2005.      So here's how much my parents care LOL

Latest email, first in two weeks, verbatim... Dear Sonia, Brent, Lydia and Emily, Here is our latest news. The weather has gone mad. Yesterday, it was snowing in Munich in May. We have been watching the French Open and the spectators are wrapped up in furry coats. We have turned on the heating in our apartment and if it doesn’t warm up soon, I will have to buy some warm clothing because I took a minimum of winter clothes which I thought that I would only need in Canada. Last Thursday was Ascension Thursday – here it is a public holiday called Christ Himmelfahrt (literal translation is Christ travelling to Heaven) and so people try to make it a long weekend. There were 50 Km traffic snarls on all roads north, south and west out of Germany. They were probably trying to escape the cool, damp weather we’ve had for almost two weeks. We attended the High Mass at the Dom (cathedral). It was marvellous. There was the Archbishop, two Bishops, about 8 priests, about 30 altar boys/girls. The Cologne Cathedral choi

Cathedral choir which had boy sopranos to men in it was just left of where we luckily were seated. They have a lot of religious holidays here. In the afternoon we visited the Muehlenhof Open-Air Museum near Aasee. It had examples of old timbered houses and workshops. It was cold and wet but there was a warm coffee house where we enjoyed plum tart, cream and coffee. Last weekend was Muenster’s Eurocityfest. The cobbled main shopping street was strung with Euro flags and was lined with stalls selling regional specialties, trinkets or travel information. The best part was the entertainment particularly the music. There was one band with 80 young musicians and a lovely vocalist. On Saturday we went on the English language guided tour of Muenster – it is always worth doing as they point out things that you would miss. On Sunday we went to the city museum to see how Muenster has developed (and been regularly wiped out by wars) since 805AD. It was most interesting. The remainder of both days was spent wandering aro

 2008.   Sorry ;o)

I just find it a bit amazing LOL!

soniat-d (153 )    9:33 pm, 31 May

2009.      sonia are they on holiday or do they live

          overseas.

bogeyi (482 )    9:36 pm, 31 May

 2010.      Hi Paula

Did you implode a bit at the weekend?! I did that recently too. Brent just went into his cave and hibernated for the rest of the night LOL. I've decided he needs another construction project to cheer him up again - got a plan ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:37 pm, 31 May

 2011.   They're on a 5 month holiday

Left a week or so after I found out the big C was back (its in the first pages of this thread). I was all upset they decided to go anyway, Mum said she'd "Come back early if it all turns to custard" which was highly amusing in a bizarre way at the time! It's turned out OK, appointment times are now good, causing minimal disruption for us and others, so glad they went (would be feeling guilty if they'd stayed). They go overseas a lot though, so could have done all this better. But I'm lucky they helped out as much as they did before they left. Not everyone has such good support, I know. I just love the absence of "How are you?"s when they do make contact LOL

soniat-d (153 )    9:41 pm, 31 May

2012.      our house is a 1900 resited villa.

In regards to the e-mail from your parents, I can understand how disappointing the lack of support will be. Without going into details here, I remember my sister being devastated at the lack of support our mother gave during a crisis in her life and the same day hearing Dr Phil (oh wise one) saying 'there will be times when people we expect will support us, and who we need close, let us down. Its certainly not a good feeling, especially when it seems they have forgotton our plight and left us to cope while they carry on having a ball. Dr Phil's advise was that we need to take a firm hold onto the people who are being supportive and focus on the encouragement we are receiving from others to get us through. I know you have a loving and supportive husband with you and hope you also have friends and others who are there for you during this difficult time.

2013.      well nite nite ladies have a early start

and a big day tomorrow...have a good nite.

bogeyi (482 )    9:46 pm, 31 May

 2014.      Nite nogeyi

Thanks new2you. Thats true. I have a few gems around me - today actually I came home to find a bag of mealtime goodies hanging in a bag of our back door, including some gorgeous gingerbread men for the girls. Made my day!

soniat-d (153 )    9:49 pm, 31 May

 2015.   Hi sonia

Can understand how you feel. Reading your parents email, I must admit I thought it was strange as well. I guess maybe (?) they're in denial and don't really want to face or think about your illness and this may be their way of coping with it by not mentioning it and hoping that it will just go away and you'll be well. People react differently and maybe this is their coping mechanism - not acknowledging. They may not be able to express how they feel?? I read your thread and all the other ladies posts every day and have nothing but admiration, best wishes and hope or you all.XXX

zebidi (282 )    9:50 pm, 31 May

 2016.   Whoops LOL!

That's Goodnight Bogeyi LOL (Typo city tonight LOL). Think I'd better depart soon too. Still stunned at the length of this thread :o) Nitey night all you lovely ladies ;o)

2017.      Well I am off also.

Will try and make sure I get back every few days but if you don't hear from me you will know I am snowed under with work, but am thinking of you and will pop back when I can to catch up. Bye for now.

new2_u (45 )    9:52 pm, 31 May

 2018.   Thanks Zebidi :o)

Yep I think you're right ;o) At the departure gate my mums parting words of wisdom were "Eat fruit!" LOL If only it were that simple! LOL (We eat a tonne of fruit in this house BTW) LOL

soniat-d (153 )    9:53 pm, 31 May

 2019.   Fruit!! - LOL

Good on you for having a great sense of humour - keeps those positive fibes going!!

2020.      Sonia I really feel for you

We had a terrible thing happen in our family and the one I thought would help me through it turned his back. I am still shattered by it but try to focus on the good people in my life. Hugs for you and Brent. Good luck to you bogey for tomorrow. Paula ,I hope you get up to meet the girls it would be so good for all of you.  2021.      good morning ladies

got up at 6am this morning couldnt sleep, tossed and turned all night feel like my eyes are hanging out of my head.

bogeyi (482 )    6:29 am, 1 Jun

 2022.      Morning all... Sonia

I think its your mums way of coping!!!! Don't mention it, it might go away! Off for chemo and grr we have been told to boil all water as of Monday afternoon but I only found out Wed lunchtime and drunk heaps in those 2 days! Got to go buy some bottle water for this morning. Joystik if you know anyone that gets the Aussie Womans Weekly see if you can get hold of Oct 05 issue. There is an interesting article about 4 generation of one family with it and research being done in Australia. I was reading it at the hospital and was going to ask the xray receptionist to copy it for me but she looked a bit grumpy!!!! Also did anyone hear on breakfast this morning about uk research in giving woman 13 big doses of radiation instead of 25 smaller ones. Grr next hurdle is radiation and junior Drs both threatening strike action about when I am due to start radiation. Have a good day everyone.

landylass (47 )    8:37 am, 1 Jun

 2023.   Grrrr

I was happy busily typing away last night and the bleeping server went down again and I couldnt get back on till just now. Xtra had another major outage. I had withdrawals all night. Anyway goodmorning. Hope you all had a good sleep and have a nice day.

Oh well, it was building and mmmmm. Anyway sweet, I think about you all the time and can appreciate that really the first line in the letter you needed to hear was How are You? Have a good day, I snuck in here quickly in the middle of cleaning the darling oven. So better get back but you take care. xx

 2028.      Hi everyone :o)

Thinking of you Bogeyi - hope the appointment went well (((((hugs))))) Its a pain how the mind can play havoc with your sleep. Its funny, I've been noticing recently that I've been having these incredibly vivid, real and extreme dreams (I'm not usually much of a dreamer LOL) and only just twigged that its the melatonin I'm taking thats causing it. It's bizarre that something that is a celebrated natural sleeping pill, has this as a possible side-effect!?! (It is a documented side effect). Now not sure whether that means I'm taking too much (only taking one pill), don't really need it or if this is actually a good thing?! More googling required ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:13 pm, 1 Jun

 2029.   Hi Paula

Yes she's a lady who totally lives in denial - I could go on but actually I'm not bothered by it these days - just intrigued by it really! (We're total polar opposites as people - sometimes thats a good thing ;o) But right now - Well, its certainly not what I'd do if either of my girls were in this situation. But that said, she may well just be burnt out - she helped out a LOT during chemo, did all my ironing, picked up the girls for me at the drop of a hat, etc etc. I was very very lucky to have that - think I got a bit spoilt actually ;o) Anyway, I find it funny how the insensitive stuff like that will only happen on one of my very very few down days - what's with that?! Feeling much better today and, wouldn't you know it, can't feel lumps now - they come and go, so think I'll brave it alone with Dr Benji and just ask lots more questions ;o) Must be scar tissue, hopefully ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:20 pm, 1 Jun

 2030.      Hi Landylass :o)

What's wrong with the water??? Don't you hate that, I can understand what you're feeling - fingers crossed eh? Cant help out with that article sorry - you should have just borrowed the mag - that's what everyone else does! I'm a major magazine reader at the mo, and when I finish them I leave them all in the waiting rooms, so others can enjoy nice recent ones. Anyway, realised this morning that they've ALL disappeared!?! Not a single one left in the rooms! I did permanently borrow one from there at the beginning as I was actually featured in it LOL (was in hospital when it came out so never managed to get a copy), but that was one 6 month old copy and I've replaced with about 15 new mags so figured that was OK?! Hope so! ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:27 pm, 1 Jun

2031.      These strikes are a major pain eh?!

Will be finding out tomorrow what this means for me. I was all fired up to write in and complain, but then thought yikes what if it annoys my therapists that I did it? (They're being so great to me, giving me great times and taking me in early when I arrive early etc) My name is too distictive unfortunately - don't think the Herald accepts false names, do they?

soniat-d (153 )    1:30 pm, 1 Jun

2032.   Hi Sonia & all the other

2033.      Hi there everyone......I had such a good sleep....

last night and in my own bed again, with no drains to get in the way. Woke up bright eyed and bushy taied at 5.30am and got up and got Lauren sorted for her school trip to Arrowtown, to learn all about the Chinese people and their Gold Prospecting. She left at 6.30 and will be home onight about 5.30. I went back to bed and slept til 9am!! The frost was fabulous at -7 deg, and looked just like snow!! The day is stunning. Nurse has been, and I am doing a bit of house work and trying to get sorted for my contact assessment for Real Estate. So if you don't see me on here much, you will know I am bogged down into a bit of final study. I SOOOoooo..... much want to get the Certificate before I start my Chemo. That was when I feel well enough, I can do a bit of work. Hope you are all having the best day ever.

2036.      Sonia,it is quite sad what people, especially

family can do isnt it. But, in saying that, my Father, who I havn't spoken to for almost 10years, phoned me the night I got my histology results, and was genuinely sad about what is happening to me right now. And also my Oldest brother (I have 5) that I haven't had much to do with either, he rang too, so that was nice, really that they are concerned under that other front they all put up. Sometimes it peoples way of coping. But hey if Fruit did the trick, I wouldnt have got Cancer at all. We have fruit for africa in this house, in fact, thats usually all Lauren takes for her school lunch, raw fruit and vegiesHope your day is good...Hugs to you..

2044.      Hi Paula, I gave you a vote and by the way it

was a new moon last Saturday 27th. Interesting?? I wonder if it had any part in the feelings thing. Going to be frosty tonight again.. Its such a beautiful still clear evening, and the sun just set about 5pm. Just waiting for Lauren to arrive home from Arrowtown now, bet she will be tired after a long day.

 2048.      CANCER SUX

Hi Sonia, there is another angle to the off-hand treatment your parents are giving you at the moment. When I got cancer last year my mum didn't want to know anything about it. She was 91 and I have been her main (and only carer) for years, and I realised later that she was terrified that something would happen to me and she would have no one left. One day I told her that my skin had broken badly under my breast from radiotherapy, and she said "I've had a bad day too". I am not condoning your parents attitude, as Mum hurt me a lot with her indifference, but just suggesting there may be another side to it. Mum thought if she didn't talk about it, then it wasn't happening. She has passed away now, but my oncology specialist thought that caring for Mum had a lot to do with my stress levels and getting cancer.

dize5 (452 )    5:33 pm, 1 Jun

2049.      well I'm off for my follow up mammo and us

tomorrow. Last november the fna was negative, and the mammo and us showed what they 'thought' was bruising. The upshot is they decided on a 6 month repeat. Thing is, I have felt a heaviness and pulling in that breast ever since (and I have a sore armpit). I have been to the GP with it and he thought the armpit was inflammation. So, I'm glad the thinking is over and the doing is tomorrow. I'm nervous because of my fam history. But I'm glad the last 6 months is finally over and I can be retested.

cake4 (155 )    6:49 pm, 1 Jun

I reckon you need a new mummy !!

 2051.      Lots of Love

I know how u must feel. Just had mastectomy 15th May after having lumpectomy 8 yrs ago and radiation treatment then. Waiting 2 c surgeon 12th 2 c what is next in store 4 me. I can really sympathise with you. All the VERY BEST and oh yes I found the lump myself, both times. Lots of Hugs and Kisses and Cuddles needed for all cancer patients. It is my caravan that has just been stolen from Rotorua (see Message) that's all I needed.

cburton1 (60 )    6:59 pm, 1 Jun

2052.      glad to see you back joystik

and that your drains are gone. horrible things they are. Did your daughter learn anything interesting?. My great great grand father was one of the original chinese gold prospecters there, altho the chinese has been well diluted over the years. He married a distant relative of my hubbys, so me & Jeff are something like 6th cousins or something stupid

 2053.      mothers

Hello can I come in for a minute..I had to do a lot for my mum and dad before they passed away, sometimes my mum would not talk to me when I rang up, I didn't know why, but after she had gone I found a note written to me saying she was really sorry for the hurt she had caused and grateful for all I had done, I really treasure this little note. It says how she really felt.Sorry to get off the subject. You're all marvellous women and so courageous, heaps of hugs and xxxxxxx's

 2056.      Hi Boop2

Thank you for doing that for me xx. How are you today? Joshi is looking forward to Christchurch, his little sister keeps going on about how long it takes to get there so think thats putting him off a bit. But hopefully we will have some time to do some fun things too. i expect the two full days of assessment will tire him out though and of course the chemo in the middle of it all. Gonna be full on for him, he'll be exhausted. But we will have fun regardless! Love & hugs to you

paulaxx (75 )    9:10 pm, 1 Jun

paulaxx (75 )    9:13 pm, 1 Jun

2058.      hi girls, appointment went ok

she wants to wait and see the next 2 chromorism tests to see if there is any change, there are two options a full transplant with radition this time and a stronger chemo or what they call a top up where they use tylers lymphosytes and transplant little at a time. Both options are with very high risks especially the first one :(, in saying this our doctor is very positive in the way she explained the good and the bad.His neutrafils went up again to .67 so doc is pleased ans still says she dosent understand why these are going up but marrow hasnt moved. Randal was there today so that was good normally by the time i get home i have forgotten the info or its to complicated to repeat.I left there today feeling alot better about the situation. Ryan needed platelets again today as the reaction earlier in the week ate them up.

bogeyi (482 )    9:17 pm, 1 Jun

2059.      Good luck to everyone waiting

on test results. All the best tomorrow with your big meeting Sonia. And go for it Joystik on your Real Estate assignments. Good to have something to focus on. Few gypsys have been passing thru town today Paula. They are doing a $12 million upgrade on our town water supplies and contractors buggered something on Monday and it meant the chloronation plant got put out of action meaning the whole town has to boil water until today. Unforutunately I'm not a radio listener, there was nothing in the local rag on Tuesday and I eventually read about it on Wed lunchtime after having drunk gallons of the stuff! Had a dose of sitting on the loo today which made me nervous after chemo but I am on Metformin for diabetes and sometimes these pills upset the tummy so feeling better tonight and I think thats what it has been. Cut them out for rest of day and relied on insulin but have blood sugar of 26 tonight which should be about 7! Looks like the alarm will be set a couple of times tonight! Got 4 spare teens also s

2063.   Hi cburton1

Thanks for popping in, by all means join in if you wish, you're most welcome :o) Sorry to hear the monsters back with you too - how are you feeling now after the mastectomy? I was just thinking the other day how at the time I had the op I was horrified at how I looked, but now I'm more than happy with it! I used to wear a prosthesis religiously (as soon as I could) for ages until a month or two ago, and now, quite frankly can't be bothered putting it back in, except on special occasions ;o) Anyway, pop in anytime, vent or talk away. Good luck for the 12th ;o)

I'm fine about my mum really, she's the way she is, getting upset about it won't change anything ;o) I voted your message off too Paula but (for the record!) I see nothing upsetting with what you said?! Perfectly fair and objective ;o) No-one's perfect, we all realise that, and love them anyway, as you clearly do Paula :o)

 2070.   Hi Dize5

Thanks for posting what you said ;o) As I just said earlier I'm fine about my mum really, she's the way she is, getting upset about it won't change anything ;o) Sorry to hear about your mum - hope you are well. Yes its interesting how many specialists attribute stress to BC - I certainly see that as the catalyst for mine too. So I trying v hard to chill... now ;o) How are things with you now? How long is it since radiation for you?

soniat-d (153 )    9:45 pm, 1 Jun

2071.   Burns healing fab now Landylass

No worries ;o) Skin has formed now over most of the wound - hopefully will be all covered when I wake tomorrow. Sweet as :o) And (touch wood) the area being treated now is still perfectly fine (touch wood) so no bandaging etc needed there. That bodes well for the party :o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:49 pm, 1 Jun

Busy day here too with all the gypsy's and not one of them stopped to tell me what the future holds... maybe its best that way eh? You poor thing, yucky water, ooohhh. When we first moved here I was drinking the water heaps, then got a bucket to wash the steps and about four worms came out of the tap, then found out from a neighbour the lady who'd lived here got giardia. We instanty phoned for a filter and yes I too had a crook tum. Hope you get a peaceful night, sounds like there is a possibility you'll get seranaded later. Take care and hope your blood sugars come down soon.

paulaxx (75 )    3:26 pm, 2 Jun

2086.      Hi Paula, been thinking about you guys too :o)

I'm well thanks, got most of the house like a museum now finally LOL (M-I-L was popping by ;o) so that feels good - lets see how long it lasts LOL. Had a good talk with counsellor, discussed upcoming oncology meeting - all the feelings there and things at home (Brent etc). Picked up the dressups for tomorrow night - will be going out tomorrow morning to get some accessories to dress it up a bit LOL. Thank goodness its sale time at the mo ;o) Yesterday our curtains finally arrived for this study so put them up too. So plan this avo is to try and sort out this room some more, its like a project without an end this room, as soon as I get through one pile another "to do" pile appears! Just doing it when I feel motivated to - life's to short to spend all day tidying ;o) But feel like it today :o) Sorry to hear Josh is emotional at the mo - you can tell him I am too ;o) Must be the weather ;o) xx

soniat-d (153 )    3:35 pm, 2 Jun

2087.      Hi 2 all and thanks for good wishes

Your sister may be lucky and NOT get the monster back, heres good wishes to her. Masectomy not as bad as when I had lumpectomy and had lymph nodes removed, they cut nerves in armpit (does happen) that was like getting electric shocks down arm REAL BAD. All going well this time so far and healing well but just yesterday had to have some fluid drained off - not much tho. Kind regards and best wishes, lots of love and hugs to all

cburton1 (60 )    3:49 pm, 2 Jun

2088.      Thats good its going well cburton

I had the nodes as well as mastectomy, whatever thats called. I agree the nodes removal is the worst part - guess that'll be happening again, will find out in about 6 weeks... Good to hear you're healing well ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    4:01 pm, 2 Jun

2089.      Any news on your caravan Cburton?

          How'd you get on today???

soniat-d (153 )    4:05 pm, 2 Jun

2091.      I'm off to local hospital overnight...

bloodsugars should be 7 and have hit 29.1! Own fault as they were already high from steroids and I picked up bottle of ordinary lemonade instead of diet this afternoon and drunk wrong stuff so finished them off! They reckon I will be out tomorrow for the hen party so thats ok. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

landylass (47 )    5:15 pm, 2 Jun

 2092.   Sonia

Been a busy day for you. Glad you had a chance to talk about all thats going on in your life. I dont know how you keep going some days, you're a legend. How exciting the party's tomorrow isnt it? I just went a picked up fish n chips and a yummy chocolate icecream for dessert. Am about to hope in the bath before the kids and get into my jarmies.  2095.      hehe I escaped admission again...

landylass (47 )    8:02 pm, 2 Jun

 2096.   Thats great Landylass

Enjoy your own bed ;o) We've got my brother here for the evening so must get back . Hi Paula and others more later ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    8:04 pm, 2 Jun

2097.      Cburton good luck with your

recovery. I had lumpectomy and nodes but was really lucky with the numbness and healing. Had to have mine drained with needle couple of times. Enjoy your big night out tomorrow night Sonia.

landylass (47 )    8:06 pm, 2 Jun

2098.   Hi Paula - yes busy busy!

Think I'm overdoing it a tad!?! My bro's gone home to study (exam time), Brent's watching Medium (yawn) so I'm in here getting a little more sorted. No longer living in a museum LOL amazing what 3 kids can do to a house in a few hours (neighbours 9yo daughter here also - we have her here every Friday afternoon after school - she's a great babysitter and she enjoys playing with the girls - while I get things done! Emily REFUSED to go toily before bed - oooh no - hopefully she's not regressing - she was doing so well?! Well off now to try on the outfit for tomorrow night - work out what I'm going to need accessories-wise ;o) Not plussed with the wig - it was Brent's preference, not mine!

soniat-d (153 )    9:28 pm, 2 Jun

 2099.   Sounds

great. How do the curtains look? Make a difference to the whole look of the room? Your Emily sounds a bit like my Cass, she is so determined (dare I say a little stubborn) she is still in night naps. I'm not bothered cos I figure if I stress about it, not going to help her get out of them, just makes it worse. Most nights are dry - every time I say five dry nights in a row and we'll forget them she has a wet one or three???? Worries. She wont be wearing them on her wedding night.. hope you had a good night with your bro.My hairdresser just asked me to do some hair modelling for a photo comp. Should be good for a laugh. If I do it- I will post a photo of me to give you a giggle.

paulaxx (75 )    9:43 pm, 2 Jun

Joystik, so glad things are on the up for you. Hugs to you all (and those I have missed).

maewest (75 )    9:46 pm, 2 Jun

2101.      Maewest

What a lovely thought. Thanks so much. We are really hoping the visit to the hospital will be brief this time, a quick i.v push of the chemo and bloods etc. But if anything goes pear shaped I will take your details. Thanks it means a lot

paulaxx (75 )    9:59 pm, 2 Jun

 2102.      Sonia

boop2 (106 )    11:03 pm, 2 Jun

2106.         Hee hee Nitey night Paula ;o)

I've been busy trying on the dress and working out how to accessorise it ;o) Have to say its pretty tragic LOL - will have to do a fantastic makeup job or piccies may not be released for public viewing LOL. Glad I got my lovely brown boots - they make it, And my new brownish faux fur 1/2 length coat looks fabulous over the loan dress - may wear that all night LOL. Had to pop out to emergency chemist tonight for some meths stuff for my ears - new earrings have made them angry - sure hope it fixes b4 tomorrow night?! Mind you with this wig Brent chose for me ( :o/!) may not need them LOL (very thick longer than shoulder length number with terribly thick fringe!). Yikes - what WAS he thinking insisting I take that one?! LOL

soniat-d (153 )    11:09 pm, 2 Jun

 2107.      Hee hee Boop2

Yep its been a ride alright. Not to worry, skin GREAT now - only a small area still to heal now (maybe 1.5cm square, which is nothing!) :o)

2109.         sonia hope you have a great time

not long been home have been at my nieces 16th birthday party.

bogeyi (482 )    11:17 pm, 2 Jun

2110.      Oh Paula - the curtains!

Not sure what I think of them, they weren't my preference but Brent thought he knew better - now he's saying "hmmmm, maybe you were right!" Too late now buddy! Nice finally having curtains back in here though, we'll get used to them. They're nice, but just a bit busy and dark for my taste - I wanted a bit more colour, and smaller pattern... Oh well, hopefully this means I get to win whichever next point of difference we come upon (pretty rare for us usually ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    11:18 pm, 2 Jun

2111.      Hope you had fun Bogeyi ;o)

Well, I'm beat! Off to beddy byes for me, done too much today, and nothing much to show for it now LOL Guess thats what kids are all about... gotta love 'em ;o) Nite all.

soniat-d (153 )    11:21 pm, 2 Jun

2112.         Beating Cancer By Accessing Your Own Immune System

A few years ago I came across a method to get control of your own immune system by using a kinesiology technique called "Finger Testing" and making a simple statement either in your mind or audibly. The site has had about 30,000 "cures" so far since June 2004. The link below will take you to the site so you can decide for yourselves whether it is worth the couple minutes it takes to learn the method. http://www.immunics.org/00open/contents/the_cure_show.htm#C I sincerely hope this helps some of you. It also eliminates flu and common cold. Best regards, John

mystx (3 )    12:07 am, 3 Jun

 2113.         Hello.

Just had a quick read through, you all sound so busy! Briyanna has had a busy few days. Tonight she's tube free though! Yay! She had a full bone scan earlier today. She's come out clear, so that's one less thinking worrying me. She'll be staying in the surgical ward over the weekend and on to oncology early Monday morning. thanks for the entries into the guest book, feels good to know we're though of :o)

twinkies_pn (0)    12:42 am, 3 Jun

 2114.         Hi Sonia

Thanks for your wishes. By the way, I'm 60 with no children, and no hubby, so feel so sorry for you at your young age - at least (if it's any consolation) you have a lot to fight for so you go for it girl! Havn't heard anything about caravan yet, my friend (Bob) and I have both put adverts in local papers and Bob has posters out for it in Rotorua too, so here's hoping. LOL

cburton1 (60 )    1:11 am, 3 Jun

 2115.         Sonia and Landylass

Hopefully you'll not have to have anymore nodes removed, I did'nt cause they were removed with lumpectomy op but apparently we have lots of them and they have got all the monster this time too. My monster was ductal (in milk ducts) but I believe there's different sorts of the monster.

cburton1 (60 )    2:22 am, 3 Jun

2116.      Hi cburton

Mine was ductal too, but had spread to either 1 or 3 nodes (depending one which specialist reads the results?!). This time though most lumps are in remaining nodes, so... node removal looks highly likely. Personally, at this stage, I don't care what they do as long as it stops the monster dead in its tracks - they can chop out part of my ribcage if they want to! Its funny how different my mentality is about it all now - when first lump found, all I was concerned about was losing my boob, I thought that was a disaster! Guess I'm just climbing up the ladder of acceptance LOL Yes I have a lot to fight for, so on with the boxing gloves and off I go ;o) Good luck to you too with everything :o)

soniat-d (153 )    8:47 am, 3 Jun

 2117.         Hi Twinkies

2136.         Hi ladies, sounds like everyone is happy here....

I missed you all and just haven't really been here at all. Had my friend from Nelson made a special trip down to see me. She and her new partner arrived last nite and it was so ,lovely to see her again, and especially to see her so happy with the new man in her life. We hadn't met him before either, and he seems lovely. She stayed in Riverton the night and arrived back this morning and we spent the day together here just catching up.. It was quite cold and cloudy until about 2pm and then it cleared away and was beautiful and sunny, but is cloudy again now. I think rain is on its way for tomorrow.  2138.         Hi Boop....how far did you walk?? Was it nice and

sunny there today too? I try to go every day for at least 2 km, or more if the day is nice..Its really nice to get out in the fresh air, and I walk like I mean it too so it doesn't take me long to cover 2km!! Have Sherri and Ray arrived over there at the bach this weekend?? She was getting rather bored with CHCH and its weather.. Hugs to you Boop2. ....

joystik (281 )    5:10 pm, 3 Jun

2139.         Hi bogeyi and Ryan...hope the rain has stopped

for your trip to the beach. We used to live at the beach at Charteris Bay on Banks Penensula, and it was great there. My Lauren is a bit of a beachcomber still actually, and will spend hours wandering along gathering things up to bring home. When she was much younger it was crabs and live things, now thankfully she goes more for shells and pretty things!! I've been thinking about you guys and sending you hugs......

joystik (281 )    5:19 pm, 3 Jun

2142.         Hello maewest, good to see you again...

havent been on here so much for a few days. Got busy once I got out of hospital, and then had visitors last night and all day today. I see you are busy working. Dont over do it will you. Leave some for the next fella. Is it a nice night in CHCH?? It is as clear as out here tonight, but the forecast for tomorrow is for rain and snow to 400m, and for you too I think. Keep well and warm wont you.

joystik (281 )    10:05 pm, 3 Jun

2143.         Landylass, you will be pleased to escape the

night in the hospital. You dont get any sleep in there do you. I was in and out of bed all night wandering about, not able to sleep, and helping the other patients in the room!! So, I was pleased to get back in my own bed and off that sweaty plastic mattress! Hope your home is bug free again and your ankle is feeling much better. Is it Chemo for you this week? Did you have 6 months worth?? Does it go quite quickly? I will now after tuesday what my treatment will involve. Hugs to you too....

joystik (281 )    10:09 pm, 3 Jun

 2154.   Bogeyi

Hi. we are ok thanks. Chris has gone off to feed the cows so I am packing and sorting for the week in Christchurch. Everytime I walk into a room I think about 6 things at once and walk out again. Last time I had to pack for Chch was when Josh was 1st diagnosed. Its a weird feeling. BUT got a bag to use for 1 of the kids and found $100 petrol vouchers and $100 pak n save vouchers from Oct from CCF. They had slipped under the bottom part of the bag and I forgot about them when unpacking when we got home. YAY! What a bonus. Hope you are good and Ryan too. Do you have 3 boys?? Cant remember if you said before. Hope the others are good too!!!

paulaxx (75 )    10:44 am, 4 Jun

 2155.      Great news Twinkie...

will be a big relief to you. Great night had by all Sonia! Does you good to have a blow out occassionally! You looked wow! We had a good night with the hen party too. Bridesmaid had all the food done and came out and decorated the place. I didn't get to bed until 1.30am either but hey does you good! They started at 6pm and went to town about midnight to pub and nightclub. Would have loved to have gone too but had another night of 2-3 hourly blood testing so was better at home! Just done a bit of minor cleanup and got another night out tonight. Might need a nana nap today expecting more visitors. Will be having a few quite days and catch prior to that last dose of chemo on Thursday!

2167.   You are right Cancer Sux

Diagnosed Sept 2004 with Ovarian Cancer on Wednesday went to Onocology to usual 6th month appointment Now I have secondaries. Not good but I am going to fight all the way and you must too. Yesterday two extremely nice young men from a well known church came to my door and offered to do my garden for free. It is becoming overgrown and it is one of my passions. Confirmed my faith in human nature. We must all fight and fight and fight. Best of luck. Maybe you could give me an email and we can help one another.

icarus1989 (468 )    1:46 pm, 4 Jun

 2168.   Hi everyone :o)

Thanks, yes we had an awesome night - can't believe how the time flew - it was great! There were some awesome getups there - silly us left renting ours till the last week, so, with 300 people raiding all the dressups places before us - there was very little left! Did a big sleep-in this morning, then went and collected the girls. Girls were angels apparently but they've had very short fuses in last hour so packed off to bed. Must have been overexcited from it all. Oh well! Think I'd better lie down again now, all that dancing and late night has me feeling a bit washed out! Will catch up with the thread later. Have a great day all ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:52 pm, 4 Jun

 2169.      matie

 2170.      Thanks Icarus ;o)

THanks for posting :o) Sorry to hear you're in the wars too. My specialist told me localised secondaries are a whole other thing to metastatic (spread) so I focus on that. Hope thats where you're at too ;o) If you'd like to talk offline, see post #177 on page 4, goto website and into my diary (pink band) and go down the bottom ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:57 pm, 4 Jun

 2171.   Thanks Rubberturkey ;o)

Thanks quite a TM name you have LOL! Wish I'd been more creative with mine - didn't realise how addictive this place would be! ;o) Thanks everyone, I just love the support I get in here! When I was getting people to take our pictures last night I was saying "I need them to show my friends on the MB" LOL! Thanks again, must really lie down now ;o)

 2173.      Hows the packing going Paula.....hope you're

getting all the right stuff in the bags. I usually get away without stuff I need and end up having to buy more when I arrive at places. It will be quite a trip up there with the puppy as well. We used to go from Oamaru to Nelson in a day no problem, but we travel a lot anyway. Hope it all goes well for you up there and Joshi gets good results. Its been lovely and sunny here during the morning and early afternoon but its packed it in a bit now I'm afraid and got a bit cooler. Love and hugs to you all...xxxxooooxxxxoooo

Looking forward to July ;o) Now I'm just hoping that's not when my operation will be - that would be cruel! Hee hee about the sprats bogeyi ;o) Yes Paula, had a great big sleep-in thanks - we just had to see how the pics turned out before going to bed ha ha! The night out was great for Brent and I - must get out more often, whenever we can! Hope all is well in your families xxoo

soniat-d (153 )    4:25 pm, 4 Jun

2176.      sonia glad you had a fab time

2177.   Hi Boop and Landylass :o)

Yep, we're taking it real easy today! Sounds like you need a bit of a break too Landylass! Glad the party went well for you too! Emily's still out of sorts this afternoon, so must get back to her soon (Brent's cuddling her). Alicia from next door is over playing with Lydia, they get on so well even though Alicia is almost 4 years older than her! The two are sleeping over at Alicia's tonight - that may be opportune if somethings up with Emily :o/! Hope not... ((((((Hugs to you both))))))

soniat-d (153 )    4:31 pm, 4 Jun

 2178.   Sonia

Firstly thank you for leaving such a lovely message in Joshi's guest book. I now have your number too so will definately be putting it in my cell phone. We also know what its like not gettin out and last Tues (Davinci Code) was the 1st time Chris and I have been out for so long. Afterwards I thought - just have to try to do that more often. Anyway love to you and your gorgeous family xoxo (p.s if your op is in July, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.) I spent ages today sitting reading your entries on your website, wiping away the odd tear, just think the world of you - your amazing!!!!

paulaxx (75 )    4:40 pm, 4 Jun

2179.   Patra

Got your number - thanks so much. The whole family is coming this time so if I dont get in touch with you, please dont think I dont appreciate the offer, or want to - it is just going to be a very busy time. Take care Paula

paulaxx (75 )    4:42 pm, 4 Jun

2180.      Sounds like partying was the order of the night

last night, and everyone was out except me!! Glad you had a great time too landylass and got in to the party spirit. It is good to have a bit of a blow out once in a while and get rid of the cob webs. Not much of a day for doing very much today. I've hardly done a thing except talk on the phone and on the computer. Should really do some study, but theres tomorrow for that. Oncology appointment is tuesday, and surgeon wants to see me wednesday, so the week is filling up fast. Hugs to you landylass....

joystik (281 )    4:46 pm, 4 Jun

 2181.   Hi joystik

Oh the packing. MMMM well I think I've got it sussed now. Its always the way, wont know till we are too far to turn back or there. Ive got so much stuff to take you'd think I was going for a year. I just had this feeling all week what if we end up having to stay. Chris would drive back with Cass and Josh and I could fly back. I just took his temp and it was up a bit and he's feeling a bit grotty? Oh well, we are going to the best place. Still yucky day here. Cold and wet. Hope you have a lovely week love and hugs to you - look after yourself.

paulaxx (75 )    4:47 pm, 4 Jun

 2182.   bogeyi

So is it fish for tea. Just kidding. Will be thinking of you this week, hope everything goes well for you and Ryan. Take care lots a love to you guys xoxo

paulaxx (75 )    4:49 pm, 4 Jun

2183.      Hi sonia, hope wee Emily is just out of sorts

for a while and nt got a bug coming on. You can do without bugs right now I think. Well, actually we all can. Hope you're having a restfull day...its turned quite cold and yuk here now, so we will snuggle in for the night. Love and hugs to you all up there.

joystik (281 )    4:49 pm, 4 Jun

 2184.   Sonia

Knowing me I will sneak on here in the morning before we hit the road, but I was just thinking I wanted to wish you well for all your appointments this week. Not sure if you have one tomorrow (stat day) or Tuesd. Then Fri isnt it? Thats apart from your treatment I mean. Anyway you will be on my mind constantly and I hope all goes well. xoxo

paulaxx (75 )    4:51 pm, 4 Jun

2185.      Paula, are you heading off early in the morning??

I think the forecast is much better for the next few days isn't it. Just some snow for today, so hopefully it will be over with before you go tomorrow and the roads are all good. I will be thinking of you all while you are away up there. Seeyou when you get back....Hugs for your kids, ohhh.. and you too....

joystik (281 )    4:52 pm, 4 Jun

 2186.   Thanks Joystik

paulaxx (75 )    4:54 pm, 4 Jun

 2187.   OOOhhhh

Joystik, what a lovely message to our Josh. Thanks it means so much xoxox (We are going to meet one day - promise)

paulaxx (75 )    5:05 pm, 4 Jun

 2188.   To the people

who have read about us on here and left a message for Josh. Thanks so much - your kind thoughts and wishes mean more than words can say. Thank you

paulaxx (75 )    5:07 pm, 4 Jun

 2189.   I just

noticed while I was doing the dishes its snowing. Is it at your place Joystik?

paulaxx (75 )    7:36 pm, 4 Jun

2190.   Wow - snowing! Thats so neat :o)

It never snows here - when I lived in Germany snow was a pain (but a big novelty for us Aucklanders LOL). Is snow a good or bad thing in Gore?! Hoping you're having a nice evening Paula. Hugs to Josh xx

soniat-d (153 )    8:00 pm, 4 Jun

 2191.   Hi Joystik :o)

Emily is fine now thanks - box of fluffies. Think she was overtired or something, although they say she slept in! Lydia's now all settled next door - she loves sleepovers - this is only her second at a friends house - I'm thinking this is the beginning of many more!

soniat-d (153 )    8:03 pm, 4 Jun

2192.      No Paula its not snowing here......I just went out

side and it is the most crystal clear night with a lovely bright moon, but not really cold. Yes, I watched the weather on tv1 and commented to my husband that 'my friends' from Gore might encounter some snow tomorrow on the way to Christchurch. We officially only get snow once a year here, but haven't had a fall on the ground for 3 years now I believe. We have only been here 1 year and last winter was very mild. I love snow, but Kevin's not so keen. He drove log trucks in Cnaterbury for years and the snow was such a pain up there in the winter. You will get up there OK tomorrow but take it easy, and drive really carefully wont you. I will be thinking of you. How much is settling on the ground??

joystik (281 )    8:07 pm, 4 Jun

2193.   Oh BTW Paula thanks for thinking of me

with the appointments - I can't find my appointment card LOL but it must be Tuesday - 9.30ish ;o) Think it'll be fine - not feeling lumps anymore. Woohoo (touch wood!) I just realised why I looked so huge in the party pics - I was standing with my fake booby side poking out and its too big with all the gauze coverings on my burns underneath! Looked passable front-on, but not at that angle! LOL! Anyway, I digress ;o) Have a safe trip tomorrow - wishing Josh all the very very best. Big cyber (((((hugs))))) to take with you on your trip xx

soniat-d (153 )    8:14 pm, 4 Jun

2194.      My Lauren just loves sleep overs too.....and alway

has done since she was really small. She went on her first holiday without Mummy when she was one!! I cried - she had a ball!! Now she like to have 3 or 4 girls at a time to sleepover. I dont mind, you get that when you only have 1 child. But there are bonus's too. Are you feeling rested now too?? You looked fabulous in your Orange gear. It reminded me of a dress my Auntie in Wellington had made and sent to me for an end of year school social/dance when I was at high school. It was long,in tiers, bright orange print (quite pretty) and she sent bright orange platform shoes and huge big beads to match. It probably wouldnt have been out of place in Wellington at the time, but it certainly was in Collingwood!! Bless her though, it was very kind of her to go to all the trouble, and she did it becaise our family home had burned down and we had lost absolutely everything, only a few weeks before.

joystik (281 )    8:16 pm, 4 Jun

 2195.      Hi Joystik ;o)

Yep nice and relaxed now - we've taken it easy today! Even the girls wanted to play quietly for a change! Yes we're thinking through how we can have sleepovers here - we were originally going to put a second bed in Lydia's room but I'm having second thoughts. May just have to put together mattress-only beds - what do you do with 4 girls over?!

soniat-d (153 )    8:31 pm, 4 Jun

2196.   Thanks about the orange dress!

I certainly wouldn't have chosen it if there had been an alternative LOL! But it looked pretty good - The wig was riding up in the pics, I realised shortly after and fixed it up! You'd think I'd have been onto it, being used to wigs now and all, but nooo! A lot of family commented on how much sympathy they have for me now that they had to wear a wig for one night - I thought that was quite amusing! Man, what a disaster that must have been with your house burning down back then, a house burned down up the road from us about 6 months ago and I just so felt for the family. Does that mean there are no childhood pics of you etc? Hope you're comfortable and happy this evening. Must go put Em to bed now!

soniat-d (153 )    8:36 pm, 4 Jun

2197.      Lauren actually has a king size bed in her room

so often 1 will sleep in a sleeping bag on her bed and the other 2 on matresses on the floor. Probably better to start off with one extra at a time, cos girls can be a bit scrappy as you may have found already!! They have such a great time though.

joystik (281 )    8:46 pm, 4 Jun

2198.   I'd definately only do 1 at a time LOL!

The thought of more than one scares me! Guess I'll toughen up with time LOL!

soniat-d (153 )    8:50 pm, 4 Jun

 2199.      Oh ladies be brave

we had 8-9 here one night for a 10th birthday party. NEVER again! We had a sleep walker. Some got to sleep then she started and woke them all up again. They went to sleep at 2am and were all awake again at 4pm. Hubby got 2 hours sleep and left for Chch at 4.30am. He stopped en route and had a kip on side of the road. When I asked how he knew he would wake up and still get to his meeting on time his reply was he only snoozed for 1/2 hour, it was so cold!!!! That slumber party is still talked about. Much sooner have boys to them! They will get tired and go to sleep!

landylass (47 )    8:54 pm, 4 Jun

2200.      No we have very few photos and things.....

from back then, only have what other people had and have copied given back to us. Absolutely everything was lost, and sadly the stress of it was too much for Mum and her health quickly went down hill and sadly the dreaded cancer returned, and she died a couple of years after. It was just devastating for my Mum to see her whole lifes work go up in flames in a few minutes. She was always a homebody, (not like me) and just lived for her home and family. And she was only 48, which made it even more tragic.

joystik (281 )    8:54 pm, 4 Jun

 2201.      Whoops that should be

          4am!

landylass (47 )    8:55 pm, 4 Jun

2202.      Joystik that is so sad

comes back to what we have been saying about stressful periods in your life before cancer rears its head.

 2203.      On the bright side

My husband who was now a year ago given 3 - 6 months without treatment and 6 - 12 with is still going strong and is at present almost cancer free ... positive thinking and alot of herbs alongside the radiation and chemo it al counts for something. Selenium was oneof the most valuable. Good luck all those out there fighting it... just be positive and set yourself small goals to make it to.

jonnoww (207 )    9:00 pm, 4 Jun

2204.      Gee landylass, you are very brave to have.......

that many girls all at once. Lauren is a kid that needs her sleep, which i kinda like, cos she only has kids to stay that are like her and will go to sleep by about 11pm at the latest. That I can cope with. In Oamaru we had down stairs so we let them sleep down there, but one decided to call up her boyfriend and hed off out the back door and meet him, which really upset Lauren. She hadn't gone far when I was alerted, and she was only 13 at the time, so I thought she was a bit young for all that stuff anyway. Girls can get quite catty in groups I have found.

joystik (281 )    9:02 pm, 4 Jun

 2205.      Thats why I prefer

having the boys to stay. Once they get over pubity the girls seem to settle down! Miss16 got a good bunch of friends now and no cattiness now. But it was there about 10 -12 age group.

landylass (47 )    9:06 pm, 4 Jun

2206.      Yes Landylass I quite agree...Lauren has much.....

nicer friends now and that cattiness has long since disappeared, thank goodness. She almost has someone here every weekend, but it doesn't bother me. They keep them selves entertained and feed themselves too, so theres no extra work. And they just go for walks, sing, and watch movies, and theres no harm in any of that. Hope it stays like that for some time yet too.

joystik (281 )    9:14 pm, 4 Jun

2207.   Wow another hundy done and dusted

Yes its so interesting about cancer and stress. The two are definitely intertwined! To that end I saw a cd in the supermarket this evening (Electric Dreams) and saw it has heaps of oldies I still just LOVE to hear and sing along to (Title song, plus Ultravox Vienna, etc etc etc), so bought it, put both disks straight in the car. Now I have lots of lovely music to sing away to on my way to radiation each day. Can't wait to play them all... Yippee! Thats the ticket ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:15 pm, 4 Jun

2208.      What kind of monster did your husband have

jonnoww? Good to hear its on the retreat :o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:16 pm, 4 Jun

 2209.      Hey Landylass

What movie did you watch the other night? Which new releases would you recommend? How's the theatre going?

soniat-d (153 )    9:17 pm, 4 Jun

2210.      Just in case Paula pops

back in.... have sent you a email with where you can find me if you want to give kids a break tomorrow or have hassles with the weather. Hope you get past Dunedin as its snowing there. Take care.

landylass (47 )    9:20 pm, 4 Jun

2211.      Thats great news jonnoww.......its always good

to hear stories of people that have had success with their treatment. I am yet to start on my chemo so I have a long way to go yet, but like you we have been taking supplements, and have changed the diet in a few areas. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by just making changes sometimes.I'm right into trying anything that may benefit my situation. Good luck to you both and hugs too.....

joystik (281 )    9:21 pm, 4 Jun

 2212.      lol Sonia

I am always going to the ones we are pulling. Never seem to find the time to go! Half the time they have been and gone before I even realise they are here.

landylass (47 )    9:23 pm, 4 Jun

 2213.   LOL Landylass

I thought you guys would be the first to know! Have you seen the Davinci Code yet? Everyone seems to have a different opinion on that one!?!

soniat-d (153 )    9:40 pm, 4 Jun

2214.      Well ladies, I'm off to bed for a little more ....

beauty sleep!! Hope you all have a restful sleep tonight and a nice day off tomorrow courtesy of the Queen. Looks like a fine day for us here. Hope theres not too much snow for Paula for travelling to CHCH. It has been snowing in Dunedin and Christchurch tonight but it could be gone quite quickly. I'll be thinking of you Paula.... Good night everyone and hugs to you all....

joystik (281 )    10:07 pm, 4 Jun

2215.      everyone has been busy on here today

Paula hope you have a safe trip and miss most of the snow it is along way to drive. I find that trip from Timaru to CH CH boring as the road is so straight. Good luck and all the best for Joshi.

boop2 (106 )    10:37 pm, 4 Jun

 2216.      Sonia

 2218.      Hi joystick

that is real sad about your mum it would be heart breaking to lose everything. How are you feeling now?

boop2 (106 )    10:43 pm, 4 Jun

2219.      landylass i think you are brave too.

Are you feeling better now. Quite often when our boys slept over we would get a ring about 10 or 11 to come and get them because they were upset especially our oldest son. They weren't very good at it.

boop2 (106 )    10:45 pm, 4 Jun

 2220.   Hi everyone

There is a little snow on the ground this morning. Nothing too drastic. It really is a still a novelty to me too. Our first season here was a wicked one and I think Josh had about 4 days off (not in a row) school as snow days. Very popular you can imagine. kids next door get towed around on their taboggan by their dad on the quad. Cool fun! We made snow angels in the lawn. Anyway I love that music too Sonia - hope we can have the sounds on today to help with the trip. Bogeyi I will try and find a computer cos I dont know if I can go 5 days off here lol. Thanks landylass, have got your details. We'll have to see how we got for time,Chris is still up at grazing block feeding the girls. So wont be leaving till after 10 I imagine :0\ Thanks everyone for thinking of us. The feeling is mutual. I will miss you.Joystik i like you refer to you all as my friends around the country now - nice isnt it. K better go and clean up the cats mess (rat) today of all days. Take care all of you. love and hugs from us here xoxoxo

paulaxx (75 )    8:58 am, 5 Jun

 2221.   Boop2

I would have loved to have gone to as many nights of the Country music gold guitars, but with Josh we just couldnt risk it. Maybe next year. Bye xo

paulaxx (75 )    9:04 am, 5 Jun

 2222.   Bye Paula

Wishing you a safe trip :o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:22 am, 5 Jun

 2223.      Good morning ladies

Have a safe trip Paula. It's very cold but clear (for now) up here (Tuahiwi,North Canterbury) this morning. There will be heaps of traffic on the roads today too, I would imagine. Keep an eye out for free coffees for drivers on the way. Always good for a break. Hope to see you while you are here. I came home from the mountains last night as the weather was closing in. Just as well too, looking at the view from my window. Have to work today. Im sure they would have been rapt if i had got snowbound up there!!

maewest (75 )    9:44 am, 5 Jun

 2224.      Joystik

All the best for you appointment tomorrow. It brings back memories. Once your treatment is underway, it's easier somehow. You just focus on getting through it and out the other side. It's acutally worse thinking about losing your hair. Paul (my bloke) shaved mine off just before it was due to start falling out. A good decision for me as I guess I felt it was me that was in control and not the drugs!! We had fun doing it though..had all sorts of different hair styles. Always wondered what I would look like with a mohawk! Nope not a good look!! lol

maewest (75 )    9:52 am, 5 Jun

2225.      wishing paula a safe trip

it is cold here today and it blew so hard in the night didn't think anything would be left standing. Have a nice day everyone

boop2 (106 )    10:16 am, 5 Jun

2226.      Hi Paula, hope you have a good safe trip to

Christchurch and dont encounter too many stops for snow etc. Hope everyone else is keeping warm. It is actually quite a nice day here, not sizzling hot by any means but the sun is out and shining brightly, which always makes you feel much better. I dont intend to do much today either. Thanks for thinking of me maewest, I think your comments about the hair are very true. And like I keep on telling my self everyday, the sooner it starts, the sooner it will be over. Hugs to you all and have a great day.....

joystik (281 )    11:29 am, 5 Jun

2238.      Pomegal..thats just the best news ever.....

I'm so pleased for you. Happy endings are what we like to hear on here and thanks so much for yours. Hugs to you...

joystik (281 )    9:35 pm, 5 Jun

2239.      Hi Boop and sonia...have you 2 had a busy day??

I moved all the plants around in my lounge and gave them a trim up, so food and water, and moved the china cabinet. That was about my lot. The district nurse even came and changes the wee dressing. The sun was shining for most of the day but it is a bit chilly tonight. I should think there will be a frost to greet us in the morning. But then that should mean a lovely sunny day too. Better go to bed now. Got my big oncology appointment tomorrow, so I'll let you know what Dr Perez has to say later tomorrow night. Hugs to you all....

joystik (281 )    9:40 pm, 5 Jun

 2240.      Good luck tomorrow Joystik....

I am sure they will give you heaps of information but make sure you get all the printouts on the different drugs and expected side effects.... and don't freak when you read them.... they don't all happen! Be thinking of you.

landylass (47 )    10:03 pm, 5 Jun

 2241.      Whoops Maewest

Chemo brain not working... that is post 2166. I have been trying to get on his guestbook tonight but can't get in for some reason.

landylass (47 )    10:19 pm, 5 Jun

 2242.      Hi joystick

I have had a real busy day washing drapes and curtains for this house we have just bought it is so dirty it is going to take day's to clean it. The bowling girls have offered to help me which I really appreciate because I think it will be the bowling season before I finish. It is a nice house and can be made really homely. How are you good luck for tomorrow will be thinking of you.

boop2 (106 )    10:59 pm, 5 Jun

 2243.      I can't get into Joshi's site either

That was lovely you met them landylass they do sound like such a nice family . Hope you are feeling better.

boop2 (106 )    11:03 pm, 5 Jun

2244.      What good news for pomegal

That would have been a load off your mind what are they going to do with you now?

boop2 (106 )    11:04 pm, 5 Jun

2245.      maewest if you see Joshi

she is. I hope it is resting up after her busy weekend. Well night everyone stay snug and warm.

boop2 (106 )    11:09 pm, 5 Jun

 2247.      Morning ladies....hope you are all having a ......

good day. It is lovely and sunny here so that makes all the difference to the way you feel I think. Must get the washing onto the line and do a bit of house work and then study this Sale and Purchase agreement. I should know how to do one off by heart for the amount of properety we have bought and sold in the past few years. However study would be a good thing I think. Hope all is well with you boop, sonia, landy, kelsall, bogeyi, and of course paula and josh in ChCh. And of course everyone else I have missed by name. Thinking of you all and wishing you all sunshine and sweet things today. Hugs for everyone.....

joystik (281 )    9:03 am, 6 Jun

2248.   Hi all, sorry I've been away - busy busy busy!

I spent a lot of yesterday gardening, repotting plants, weeding etc etc and rest of time catching up on chores, washing etc etc. Was so tired last night I just crashed in front of the TV (Not something I do often!) watching The Good Life (we just bought the DVD at the sales). Anyway.... my skin is healing up beautifully, doesn't look at all angry anymore - technicians were most surprised this morning saying WOW its healing well, so thats good :o) Downside, stupid public system... yes my appointment with Dr Benji was yesterday but because it was a public holiday it didn't happen and we all simply miss out for 2 weeks?! What a load of garbage - why'd they make an appointment on a Public Holiday in the first place, and as he's only there on Mondays we all get bumped a week or something?!? Then, on top of that, I realised that my last treatment should be this Friday (first day of strike) so end of treatment will be delayed 6 days for me to get just one more zap. Nope, not on peoples!!!! Sorry, venting :o/!!! Will

soniat-d (153 )    12:48 pm, 6 Jun

 2249.      Cont'd...

...Will call Breast Surgeon nurse after all today, she called to say my surgeon is on holiday, but I'm hoping shes back today. I think I'll demand that the end of treatment is dated from this Friday, for the 4 week wait till CT scan, not after the tsupid week later last blast. Thats the best I can demand really...

soniat-d (153 )    12:48 pm, 6 Jun

 2250.   Oooh Landylass

I'm so jealous you got to meet them! Thats so great that you caught up, can't wait to see that infectious smile either, and Paula of course and the rest of her lovely family :o)

soniat-d (153 )    12:50 pm, 6 Jun

 2251.   Hi boop2

Yep it was a busy weekend all right - resting yesterday afternoon before doing dinner, then again after putting girls to bed. We all slept in chronically this morning (8am!). Anyone who has preschoolers/5 year olds will know how impossible it is to speed them up by 3/4 of an hour in the morning!?! They just ended up in tears :o/ Of course I had an earlier-than-usual appointment this morning, can't believe I made it (just!). Phew!!! OK gotta put Emily down to bed soon ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    12:55 pm, 6 Jun

 2252.   Hi Joystik ;o)

Good luck for your Oncology meeting today - hope it goes OK. Now you've already gone I can say that mine was a shock to me, thought my picture was a lot rosier than it was, and he certainly let me know that!? I have the same feeling going into this Fridays one, nervous as #shrugs#. As Landylass said, don't fret about the chemo, all those printouts look really scary but its really not that bad, they just have to cover themselves by putting down every possible side-effect, but only a few of all those happen really, its just that different people react to it in very different ways. For me the actual treatment was a pleasant surprise - not bad at all, actually I had fun ;o) (((((hugs))))) xx

soniat-d (153 )    1:01 pm, 6 Jun

2253.      Wow Sonia you make me tired

just thinking about what you got up to over the weekend! Grr fancy missing out on your very last blast because of strikes. Boy that would make me really mad. Glad to hear you are healing so well though. I got a letter from DHB on Sat too about the strikes but then there is still the junior drs threatening too. This round of strikes won't effect me unless it pushes all the appointments back. I was originally told 4 week break after chemo so won't worry me if they want to delay start to radiation for a couple of weeks. Joshsi is such a coooooool kid. The way Paula was talking she is intending to try to meet some of Auckland ones while there. I am on a mission today to get some answers re these blood sugars as last dose of chemo on Thursday and this one will be the one that will knock me and I don't want another visit to A&E! I am getting conflicting advice so on a mission for some answers but can't get hold of the people I need to talk to! And Sonia no I haven't been to da Vinci code yet!

landylass (47 )    1:04 pm, 6 Jun

2254.      Good luck on your mission Landylass

So frustrating when you can't get your questions answered. Yes you do need to get it sorted before Thursday. Sonia, welcome back. We all wondered where you were. What a busy time you have had. I cannot believe your appointment was made for a Public Holiday. Unbelievable. To them just a mistake, to you another stress you can be doing without. Not good enough!! Wonder how Joystik is feeling?

maewest (75 )    2:08 pm, 6 Jun

 2255.      Hi Maewest...

hope you haven't got heaps of hours to work this week after your big stint! You should be getting out of the stress zone not back into the thick of it. Good luck tomorrow for your mammagram. Hope you manage to see Joshi.

landylass (47 )    2:30 pm, 6 Jun

 2256.   Hi ladies

Good luck from me too Maewest ;o) Wishing you all the best :o) Hey Landylass, thats funny coming from you - you're the one who makes me feel like a slacker at times LOL! The weathers just so great here I HAVE to be outside, was doing some more gardening just now. Tomorrow I plan to get back to the painting, weather permitting ;o) OK off to collect Lydia now - I have a nice treat this afternoon, going for a facial (brother's treat) :o) Nanny's coming early. OK must go!

soniat-d (153 )    2:39 pm, 6 Jun

 2257.      Haha. I agree Sonia

Landylass I think we would all come 2nd to you in the busy stakes!! I have a couple of days off but then on 11 days (nights)straight...someone's on leave. Oh joy. Oh well it will look good in the pay packet! I'm not complaining really tho, because I enjoy what I do. It sure helped me through the rough times.

maewest (75 )    3:12 pm, 6 Jun

 2258.   Yep, Maewest

Distraction is the key ;o) I found it amazing during chemo how much better I felt on the nautious days if I was doing something, anything really, that took my mind off it. I did lots of painting then LOL (not the outdoors kind I'm doing now of course, rather the quiet sit-down kind ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    3:35 pm, 6 Jun

2259.   i am so over this roller coaster we are riding

feel like you get some good/ok/hopeful news then next time its turned to custard.Sonia hope you enjoyed your facial, Paula and Josh hope your appointment went ok, hello landylass, joystik, boop, twinkies, and everyone else i have forgotten.

bogeyi (482 )    4:52 pm, 6 Jun

 2260.   Hey Bogeyi

Are you OK? You're not sounding very happy today - hope all is OK with Ryan :o) Had an awesome facial thanks - the rest of the day has been a shambles - traffic jams, I've even lost my keys (all of them!) and can't find them ANYWHERE?! Had to use spare car keys to get to appointment - guess what I'll be doing tonight! :o/!!!! Feeling very glam though, even got my eybrows (what there are of them LOL) trimmed and tinted ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    6:32 pm, 6 Jun

 2261.      im fine sonia

just frustrated im sure you know what i am talking about.

bogeyi (482 )    6:54 pm, 6 Jun

2262.   Yes I sure do Bogeyi

At the party on Saturday my brother-in-law asked how I was feeling and I said "Well, I just wish I was anyone else but me these days". Sums it up really ;o) Feeling fine now, found the keys #phew#, girls are good, so all is well in the world. Will stir the couldron tomorrow, had no time to make those calls today. Hope you're all having a nice evening :o)

soniat-d (153 )    7:48 pm, 6 Jun

 2263.      Hi Joystik ;o)

Hope all went OK today - thinking of you xxx

soniat-d (153 )    7:51 pm, 6 Jun

2264.      Hi sonia, landylass, boop, meawest, and everyone...

well I had the meeting with Dr Perez the Oncologist from Dunedin today. After a long wait in the waiting room we finally got in there. He explained why I should have Chemo, because I had a high grade Tumor, and because I had 10 of 16 lymph nodes involved. He said that Chemo is no guarantee, but could improve my rate of cure by 65% or a little more, but that it was up to me if I had it or not! Of course I am going to, I need all the help I can get to beat this thing.

joystik (281 )    8:24 pm, 6 Jun

2265.      OK so thats the same odds I was given with

standard chemo Joystik (ie first time around with only 1 large lump and 1 or 3 nodes affected). I reckon that stuff worked for me - otherwise I'd be riddled with cancer, not just local recurrance as it is. Hope that helps? Did he mention other pay chemo options above that? I'm guessing not?

soniat-d (153 )    8:32 pm, 6 Jun

2266.      Wow that anyone would even

think you might consider not having it!!!! Stay positive Joystik and treat chemo as your friend that is going to help you beat the monster. I have to get off here and might be gone for a few days. Got a virus and got to pull the plug until we get it sorted. Just clicked over to a new months account today and used a whole months broadband in less than one day! {{{{big hugs]]]]]

landylass (47 )    8:54 pm, 6 Jun

2267.      Wow, you guys are amazing..

I don't know anyone that is untouched by this monster whether it is experiencing it or witnessing a battle. Reading your posts has brought tears to my eyes. It is so wonderful to read your fantastic support for each other. Stay strong and wishing you all the best ***Hugs to you all***

teejay54 (53 )    9:08 pm, 6 Jun

2268.      So I will be starting my Chemo next Thursday....

It is FEC, I will be having 6 treatments at 3 week intervals, that is assuming all is ok with bloods etc, so much what you have all had I guess. He told me that the most distressing thing about the chemo is the hair loss, but it does grow back. I got a prescription for 5 different anti nausea drugs, so i'm ready to go. I wont have my port in when I start but should by the second treatment.

joystik (281 )    9:26 pm, 6 Jun

2269.      After that I have to go to Dunedin for 3 weeks....

for radiotherapy, and the probably hormone therapy for 5 years. So there is a bit too do yet, but all this treatment is going to be my friend at the end of the day. I can beat this and I WILL!!!!

joystik (281 )    9:36 pm, 6 Jun

2270.      hi joystik......just wanted to say goodluck

Ryan found that the hardest part when i had to shave it short (hes always loved his hair would spike it)as it was starting to fall out he thought i was shaving it all off he was crying, even the nurse had to walk out as she couldnt bear him crying. He wouldnt look in the mirror kept saying im ugly, took a few days before he came to like his bald look, i loved it really suited him bought out his gorgeous eyes.

bogeyi (482 )    9:36 pm, 6 Jun

2271.      Thanks bogeyi, for that. Its just all a bit.....

daunting all at once, getting all the information, and you have to lose you hair too??? Its almost like adding insult to injury. But hey, there are worse things in life. Hugs to you and Ryan too...

joystik (281 )    9:50 pm, 6 Jun

2272.      joystick you have along journey ahead of you

2273.      Ohhh..... how could I have forgotten to give you

the best part of the information??? The CT scan I had last wednesday, was totally CLEAR. So that was the good news of the day, and I just about jumped up and kissed the poor man when he told me, I was so relieved. That is one less thing to worry about. Oh well, I'm off to bed now, so I will see you again tomorrow. Hope you are all warm and cosy like we are here. Good night everyone, hugs to you all....xxxxxxxx

Glad everything is healing well that is one plus. Hugs to you.I am just so proud of you and your attitude I don't know you but I sure as hell would like too.

cole2 (360 )    8:18 am, 7 Jun

 2283.      Good morning everyone

Beautiful crisp morning here too. Joystik so pleased the CT Scan was all clear. Seems they treat everyone differently with chemo. I was on the CAF recipe. Did they give you a voucher to go and sort out a wig? I had a couple of fun days doing that. Take a friend with you to help make the decision. My friend took photos of me with different wigs on. That was fun. I didn't wear mine that much, but it was great when you went out wanting to look 'normal'.

maewest (75 )    9:34 am, 7 Jun

 2284.      good morning all

bogeyi (482 )    9:45 am, 7 Jun

 2287.      Oh Bogeyi

You poor wee sausage. It's not fair. What is wrong with Kirsty? Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up for a coffee to vent our frustrations? Nothing like a good vent to make you feel better.

maewest (75 )    9:46 am, 7 Jun

 2288.      mmmmmmmmmm coffee

she needed to go to the dental department she is a doctors nightmare she is so frightened of docs, dentist, anything medical she gets hysterical so they refer her there so they can give her some happy gas to relax her, have no idea where this has come from as she has never been hurt (other than a filling hurt) wonder if it comes from all the treatment ryan has had???????if you say needle she almost crumbles.

bogeyi (482 )    9:54 am, 7 Jun

2289.      hope she is alright now bogeyi

enough is enough. Hi sonia glad about emily. Great news for joystick I bet that was a load off your mind.Hi maewest enjoy lunch . Have a nice day everyone

boop2 (106 )    9:55 am, 7 Jun

2290.      My younger son was like that

bogeyi. Fortunately he has grown out of it (he's 21 now). Just what you need on top of everything else. The laughing gas does the trick though. How is it on the Coast boop2? Must get back over there one day. One of my favourite places in the country.

maewest (75 )    10:05 am, 7 Jun

2291.      Hi ladies, having a busy morning catching up on

stuff around here. Thanks for all your continued support. Thanks bogeyi for the quotation atbou the heads and hair...too true. Have to take the cat to the vet when I can find him. He has an abcess on his ear. I noticed it a couple of days ago and put iodine on it but it needs more than that now. I phoned the vet to book him in and he heard me on the phone and disappeared!! Usual story...I should have been spelling instead of talking. Hope you allhave a great day. Thats a bummer about the radiotherapy sonia. Strikes ae...who needs them. Enjoy your lunch out maewest, thats always fun. Off to look at wigs on friday I think, so that should be fun. Think I will probably stay much the same as I look now.Hi Boop, have you a nice day at Hector?? Its warm as here but cloudy now.

joystik (281 )    11:13 am, 7 Jun

2292.      Hi everyone

I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread but I am so inspired by your stories. I have been diagnosed with bladder cancer will be going into hosp in a couple of weeks to have it removed. The outlook is good for me and after a dose of chemo I should be fine. I take my hat off to all you brave people who are going through a very hard time and able to stay positive through this.

2294.      thanks

for that mattymouse, yes bladder cancer does have a high success rate which is why I feel lucky compared to what other people on here have suffered. The doc told me I had one in a million chance of getting this type of cancer as I have no risk factors ie I am reasonably young at 38, I am female and I don't smoke. Why can't I be the one in a million who wins lotto! lol. How was your Mum after surgery? did she get up and about fairly quickly?

 2296.      it must

be very hard for you being so far away, they do regular cycostopys (sp) to check it hasn't grown back so I'm sure she'll be well monitered. Hopefully the chemo will get at what they couldn't remove.

fantail501 (116 )    12:25 pm, 7 Jun

 2297.      Hi Fantail (and Mattymouse!)

Sorry to hear about the bladder cancer - yep we drew the short odds (I'm the same - fit no risk factors whatsoever - go figure!). Glad your outcome expectations are so good - I've decided I don't want to know mine now! I'll be telling my oncologist that in no uncertain terms before he blurts it out! LOL ;o) Wishing you all the best. Must go make those phonecalls now!

soniat-d (153 )    1:52 pm, 7 Jun

2298.      A big, big hug for sonia

Lovely day here joystick I am so busy don't get time to be out in it.Hi Fantail and mattymouse life can be damn cruel can't it? I haven't cancer but have had other heartaches that test your faith at times. Wonder how paula and joshi are? My Josh(grandson) IS 20 tomorrow, alovely lad 8-6-86 good date.

boop2 (106 )    2:45 pm, 7 Jun

 2299.      big hugs to all

and thanks to all for your great support in my hours of need, it was really funny as i set off to napier at 9am on thursday and at about 12pm i got a ph call from the mr, i had asked him to phone if results came so when i saw his number come up i got very nervous (which isnt good while you are driving lol) so he told me exactly as the letter said that it was fibrocystic cysts and that it wasnt serious, thats what the letter said (it was from my doc) well from then on all the way there i had this stupid grin on my face everyone must of thought i was nutty but i wanted to wave to the world and let them all know about it, i hope all you brave ladies get good news about whatever it is you need, and hugs to you all, you have been a tower of strenghth when i needed it, hugs hugs and more hugs

LOL

 2117.         Hi Twinkies

Hope you got all your cows moved Paula. I had a look at Josh's new site and its lovely. I will have to go back there cos I couldn't leave a message for whatever reason. Hugs to you guys....keep warm wont you.

for your trip to the beach. I've been thinking about you guys and sending you hugs......

night in the hospital.

 2154.   Bogeyi

Hi. we are ok thanks.

 2182.   bogeyi

paulaxx (75 )    4:49 pm, 4 Jun

Seeyou when you get back....Hugs for your kids, ohhh.. and you too....

joystik (281 )    4:52 pm, 4 Jun

paulaxx (75 )    4:54 pm, 4 Jun

2202.      Joystik that is so sad

comes back to what we have been saying about stressful periods in your life before cancer rears its head.

landylass (47 )    8:56 pm, 4 Jun

I am always going to the ones we are pulling. Never seem to find the time to go! Half the time they have been and gone before I even realise they are here.

2215.      everyone has been busy on here today

Paula hope you have a safe trip and miss most of the snow it is along way to drive. I find that trip from Timaru to CH CH boring as the road is so straight. Good luck and all the best for Joshi.

 2218.      Hi joystick

that is real sad about your mum it would be heart breaking to lose everything.

 2221.   Boop2

I would have loved to have gone to as many nights of the Country music gold guitars, but with Josh we just couldnt risk it. Maybe next year. Bye xo

Nope not a good look!! lol

it is cold here today and it blew so hard in the night didn't think anything would be left standing. Have a nice day everyone
