I lived in Queensland for a year but travelled the east side of oz after we left PNG.I took the boys there last year and they loved it. We did the theme parks and think I had as much fun as they did.

janetmk1 (38 )    10:59 pm, 8 Jul

Thats no good - poor Ryan (((((hugs))))) Are you feeling any better today after your vege soup?

soniat-d (153 )    8:11 am, 9 Jul

 4509.   Hi Boop and Janet

I always back the kiwi's of course ;o) My parents do too ;o) For my first 18 years or so we considered ourselves Aussies and thought we were going to return when a job opened back there for Dad but when one finally did, it was too late and they decided not to return (we were very settled with our home and friends here etc). Then we became true blue Kiwis (he had been all along really!), I even changed to an NZ passport :o) Can't change my birth certificate though LOL! You'll all still talk to me, right?!

soniat-d (153 )    8:16 am, 9 Jul

 4510.     Whoops

4513.     come on in and give me your homemade

          remedies to get this gone..

bogeyi (483 )    10:54 am, 9 Jul

4514.     Hi ladies, no I'm fine Paula, nothing going on

here yet anyway. Quite a nice morning here, seems to be warm so far but a bit cloudy. Laurens coming home after lunch so I'm looking forward to that. Watched the Rugby, which I quite enjoyed and then slept like a log all night, so feel great today too. I would feel quite nauseated if I wasn't taking the odd Maxolon, and apart from having a itchy head...life is great!! You all have a great day too. Sorry about Ryans cough Bogeyi...no good...I'll be thinking of you ....

joystik (282 )    10:56 am, 9 Jul

 4515.     Good morning All

Beautiful day here again,so I am going to potter in the garden after I tidy up, boys are all in computer land so good chance for me to get some peace. Bogeyi I am so sorry to hear Ryan is battling with that nasty cough.I would try manuka honey and lemon drinks all day, even if he can suck on a teaspoon of manuka honey it should give him some relief from the cough..worth a try it works for some people.

janetmk1 (38 )    11:14 am, 9 Jul

4516.     janetmk1 will go and give him some

          now, worth a try

bogeyi (483 )    11:17 am, 9 Jul

 4517.     bogeyi

Sounds like what Joshis got, sure hes had this long because of his asthma. At night and mornings are the worst. I am sure elevating his bed did help. The other thing is sucking something to releive that nagging tickly, and feeling like wanting to cough. Throat lozengers are good if he doesnt mind the taste. Otherwise even a hard boiled lolly - helped Josh. Lucky I just happened to have a supply of them lol. Anyway vicks on the chest etc???? Inhalations, steam with vicks in. Just some thoughts. Hope he is better soon. I have rung the hospital asking for Joshs bloods - just waiting for them to return my call :o/

paulaxx (77 )    11:42 am, 9 Jul

4518.     you mean you had some lollies

          left..thanks paula

bogeyi (483 )    11:44 am, 9 Jul

 4519.   lol

You guys know me so well.....

paulaxx (77 )    11:50 am, 9 Jul

 4520.         Man

Hospital doesnt have Josh's blood results wont know till next week. Taken in gore have to be sent to Dunedin now, nurse said if they were taken in Gore we wont get them. The request came from you in Kew and results were being sent to you. Oh? Sorry I am just a little frustrated as his counts had gone down again!!! OK Vent over!

paulaxx (77 )    11:58 am, 9 Jul

4521.   That is frustrating Paula :o/

I really feel for you - it's like riding a bike along a tightrope in the dark... aaaarrrrgh! Vent away! ((((((hugs))))))

soniat-d (153 )    12:24 pm, 9 Jul

 4522.     Hi everyone

I kinda feel guilty saying this but everyone is well again now - even Brent!?! Weathers cr@p though. Brent and I are off to the movies this afternoon (3.15 session LOL) to see the new Superman movie - we hear its good like the Batman one - that WAS good, so going with fingers crossed. Will be nice to go to something with Brent - we haven't done this in too long. Hope everyone's health improves. (((((hugs))))) to all you lovely people and your families xoxoxo

soniat-d (153 )    12:27 pm, 9 Jul

 4523.     Sonia

Thats great. You two enjoy your time out. (((((HUGS))))) to you and your beautiful family. Thanks for understanding xo

paulaxx (77 )    12:37 pm, 9 Jul

 4524.     Sonia

There are probably heaps more Aussies living in N.Z. than you know. I am one too. Came here when I was 23 to marry a Kiwi, and I am now 64, so have lived here longer than there. I have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Love going back for holidays, but would never live there again (Queensland). We are retired now and I just love the life style here. I still have an Aussie passport and will never give that up. (Great at the airports in Aussie when there is a shorter queue at Customs for 'Australians and their families' lol).

dize5 (462 )    1:44 pm, 9 Jul

 4525.     I hear you dize5 ;o)

Actually it was Brent who made me become an NZ'r - he got sick of the extra section I had to complete applying for residency every time we returned to NZ! I actually argued your point about going the other way ;o) I waited till I didn't have to relinquish my Australian citizenship, just in case things go to custard in the future LOL! I'm not normally one to sit on the fence however ;o) I've been here for 37 years, and I'm only 38 so how more Kiwi could I be?! I have cousins in Queensland - Yepoon/Rockhampton to be exact, and my late Grandad lived in Toowoomba, so know those areas quite well ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    2:41 pm, 9 Jul

 4526.     It's a sad disease

It took my mums boyfriends mom recently, she couldnt eat or drink. My dad recently had prostate cancer removed, however he has decided not to take the kemo:(

lea69 (-1)    4:33 pm, 9 Jul

 4527.     Thats a shame Lea

Well if its any consolation, chemo din't work on my cancer anyway. I wonder if rather than doing that, I'd just upped the quality diet, exercised etc etc I may have been better off!

soniat-d (153 )    7:31 pm, 9 Jul

 4528.   Hi All :o)

Superman Returns is COOL! We loved it! Though one nutty lady started screaming and crying (when Superman was being attacked and wounded) and was ferried out of the theatre shrieking "I can't take it any more, its too much!" :o/!!! What the??? Its just a movie lady LOL Lots of young kids in there, I thought they should have been the ones shrieking #shrugs#. Anyway, we LOVED it, we'll definately be buying that one on DVD ;o) Evening all xoxoxo Its quiet, hope you are all OK?! (((((hugs)))))

soniat-d (153 )    7:35 pm, 9 Jul

 4529.     Sonia

Glad you enjoyed the movie, sounds like you got more excitement than you bargained on. Classic! Hope everyones is having a good evening. Off to watch T.V now. Nanite xo

soniat-d (153 )    8:12 pm, 9 Jul

 4537.     cant wait

well the boys and I are heading to bed to watch the rest of harry potter, see if the electric blanket will help the aches. Good night all.

bogeyi (483 )    8:15 pm, 9 Jul

4538.     Hi everyone, I wish you were all feeling as great

as I am, and like Sonia, I almost feel guilty saying how good I feel. Sorry you are not feeling on top of the world tonight Bogeyi. Hope you're better tomorrow, and the boys too. Sounds like a big week for you with appointments and stuff. I'll be thinking of you all....I've been out roaming with my friend helping her with her Open Homes today. Had a blast too actually, and quite a few people out looking too which is more fun. Getting a bit of practice ready for when I am qualified and ready to go. Such a gorgeous warm sunny day here too which is good for getting people out and about...

joystik (282 )    9:13 pm, 9 Jul

4539.     Paula, thats really dopey about Josh's blood tests

does that mean if you have them done in Gore, they will be processed in Dunedin?? Thats not really satisfactory is it? What if its marked URGENT!! They can be thru in about 15 minutes, but not if they go to Dunedin I don't suppose. Hope Josh is feeling better today and the cough is lots better. Did you have a beautiful day too?? I was thinking about you lots today...hugs to you all.....

joystik (282 )    9:18 pm, 9 Jul

4540.     Hi Sonia, sounds like your day has been lots of...

fun all round, especially the bit where the screaming lady was escorted from the Movie theatre!! Thats a Classic!! I have been to Toowoomba, when I went over to Brisbane for my brothers wedding. My sister in law is from Kingaroy in Queensland, where the Late Premier Joh came from. Pleased to hear you are all back to good health again....was short lived wasn't it?? Must be the Vitamin C, I sure it would be helping not only that but lots of other things as well. Lovely to hear you are feeling better, and sounding better too. Hope you have a happy day tomorrow - last week of the holidays.....Hugs to you all too.....

joystik (282 )    9:24 pm, 9 Jul

4541.     Hi janetmk, glad you had a lovely day too....

sunshine certainly makes a difference to the way you feel doesn't it. Did you manage to get gardening done? I have 20 roses to prune but I am trying to wait another month or so, til the hard frosts are past, because once they are pruned, they shoot away quite quickly, and then if you get really frosty stuff again, you can lose all you first flowers. There are plenty of weeds lurking, but thats for another day. Lots of daffodils are up now with big buds, so spring cant be far away, hopefully!! See you again tomorrow....hugs to you and family too...

joystik (282 )    9:31 pm, 9 Jul

4542.     Hows you day been Dize? Hope its been kind

to you. I didn't realise that we were in the company of so many Australians?? I quite like them anyway, I have one for a SIL and she is lovely. And its not far to go for a holiday is it? There have to be benefits both ways. See you tomorrow....sweet dreams and hugs....

joystik (282 )    9:34 pm, 9 Jul

4543.     Did you enjoy the rugby Maewest and Boop?

Quite an entertaining game I thought, and as for Jerry Collins little episode on the sideline....well....how disgusting. I actually couldn't believe that was what he was doing. Obviously his mum wasn't like my mum!! She always said when we went anywhere,"have you been to the toilet, and have you got a hanky"? Hope you have both had a good day. Its been fab here and so lovely and warm too. You didn't get snow did you Maewest?? Some coming later in the week. Thanks for the emails Boop....so funny...and I love mail as you have probably guessed by now!! Take care, sleep well, and hugs to you both. Hows your hubby Maewest?? Get the supplements into him - who knows what could happen!!!

joystik (282 )    9:40 pm, 9 Jul

4544.     Landylass, where are you?? You seem to have been

gone for ages. Hope all is going well with your treatment. I've been thinking about you and wondering how its all going. I would guess you are super busy when you get home after being away all week. All is well in my camp, and I havent experienced any unpleasant side effects following the chemo on wednesday, so I am very thankful for that. Do take care driving back tomorrow, and I'll be thinking of you . Sweet dreams and hugs to you too.....

joystik (282 )    9:43 pm, 9 Jul

 4545.     Hi Joystik ;o)

Yes a good day, good weekend actually ;o) I was talking to a friend on the phone tonight that I havene't spoken with in about 3 weeks, and of course she was asking where I was with everying and such. While I was filling her in it hit me how, when talking like that, it seems like its all I think about and am doing, but its not!?! Life's so normal in a lot of ways right now. But everyone around me things its not! If only I could convey that to others. Oh well, it was nice having a chat :o)

soniat-d (153 )    10:06 pm, 9 Jul

 4546.     Yep, missing Landylass

Hopefully shes having fun with her kids and catching up on things. Remember to SLATHER on the acqueous cream Landylass, like icing on a cake ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    10:07 pm, 9 Jul

4547.     Sonia,is that acqueous cream white or a lemon

colour?? I remember when my mum had her first episode with breast cancer when I was 5, and she came home after about 8 or 10 weeks away in hospital, and had this massive big burn from her shoulder to her waist, right through front and back, and had to smear thick layers of this creamy coloured stuff over it. I can still remember the smell of it actually. It went on for ages, and the district nurse came 2 or 3 times a week and changed the big bandages, and then mum would have to wash them all readyfor the next time she visited. It was dreadfull and a very lasting memory unfortunately!

joystik (282 )    10:15 pm, 9 Jul

4548.     You really do sound so much better, and you

are always so positive on here especially. It certainly is the best way to be, and you feel so much better if you can just see some good in whats happening. Sometimes its such a small little thing, but if its a positive then its well worth accentuating i believe. Positivity is so good for people fighting this monster....Cos they end up winning....

joystik (282 )    10:18 pm, 9 Jul

4549.     Twinkies and Briyanna....are you ok???

Haven't seen you for a few days either and I'm hoping all is OK and you're just busy out doors playing and doing fun things Take care and keep smiling all of you. Hugs for you all too......

joystik (282 )    10:19 pm, 9 Jul

4550.     Is the show you are going too on tomorrow??

You really make the holidays lots of fun for your little girls Sonia. They are both beautiful and take such lovely photo's. I have a few prints of them now.....it like a wee gallery in here..

joystik (282 )    10:21 pm, 9 Jul

 4551.     Hi joystik

Thank you for the kind words. If I had a dollar for every time someone says to me "I won't hold that against you" when they hear I am an Aussie, I would be very rich!!!! I really enjoy your postings and to hear of your positive progress. I didn't have chemo, just radiotherapy and now drugs, so am following your journey with great interest.

dize5 (462 )    10:33 pm, 9 Jul

4552.     Oh well, bed time for me...see you all tomorrow

          after a nice restful sleep....

joystik (282 )    10:33 pm, 9 Jul

 4553.     Its a non-smelly white cream

Very light and watery. After being slathered on and a dressing over it for a few hours when it was raw it stank so I was changing like 6 times a day. But it was the gooey discharge causing the smell, not the cream! The girls are happy with everything going on - they'll probably hate going back to school LOL because it was such fun, but I feel so great now I just want to go everywhere and do fun things :o) We're meeting bogeyi to collect the tickets tomorrow (Monday) and the show is Tuesday morning :o) The only trouble with school hols and no family around is not being able to go for long walks (girls aren't into long walks unfortunately) so looking forawrd to getting into that once school etc returns ;o) "Nite all, gotta go do the dishes (was hoping Brent'd do it for once but noooooo) then beddy byes. Sweet dreams all, hope the boys get a decent night's rest ((((((hugs)))))

soniat-d (153 )    10:43 pm, 9 Jul

 4554.     Home for a 4 day weekend

and been flat out & never got a chance to have a catch up read on what everyone is up to. Had a miserable week with sore muscles this last week. Been to Dr on Friday and I have been taken off Lipex for 2 weeks. I take this for high chlorestral as it goes with the diabetes. My muscles have been getting weaker and weaker and I can't walk properly. My feet kinda plop! Then the soreness kicked in. I think this is why I fell down the stairs and sprained my ankle. So we will see what this week brings now I am off it.

landylass (48 )    11:03 pm, 9 Jul

 4555.     cont.

Hope all the kiddies are on the improve and Maewest enjoyed her days off! Was thinking of you all. Joystik Sonia was away home on Friday. Will miss her this week. Hope all is going well for you. Might have to go visit big sis during the week and have my catchup read on her computer. Have a good week everyone. Hope everything is going ok for you too Sonia. Fiji is getting closer!!!! I am sick of ice and slippery roads and getting gravel throw at my windscreen travelling and looks like we are in for another frost tonight and more snow later in the week.

landylass (48 )    11:04 pm, 9 Jul

 4556.     Hi there Landylass

It's good to see you back on here. Sorry to hear your muscles are giving you such trouble. Let's hope that coming off the Lipex does it for you. How many treatments do you have left? I'm just in from a 12 hour shift at work. Will be hitting the hay shortly. Would love to catch up with you again one of these days.

maewest (76 )    11:10 pm, 9 Jul

 4557.     And hello and goodnight

to all the rest of you lovely ladies on here. Haven't read back through all the posts yet. Will try and do that in the morning. Hope all the coughs are on the improve. I'm still managing to keep the bugs at bay. Yay for Vit C!! Wishing you all a happy week. Nite nite XXX

maewest (76 )    11:12 pm, 9 Jul

 4558.   wow soniat-d

You are one amazing woman, with a lot of courage and unfailing optimism. I read through a fair bit of this...over the last couple of hours, and from what i've read things are looking good for you! That is really good to hear. I know that radiation and chemo is rather brutal on the body, and it requires a lot of strength and determination let alone learning to handle the pain and side effects. It must be hard with young children also, having to be brave, when at times all you'd want to do is fall apart emotionally when going through the ups and downs of your recovery path. All the VERY best to you and your family.

sundown (666 )    11:16 pm, 9 Jul

4559.     Yikes Joy I pruned the roses!!

Guess I won't be getting many flowers this summer LOL...They looked so bad and the kids kept complaining that when they get out the car the roses attacked them so really i had to give them the chop a bit. I had a nice peaceful day.I am hoping the kids stay well this week so I can get them out to the movies etc. bogeyi I hope Ryan got some relief from coughing today, poor boy its horrible when it hurts to cough. I hope you all have a good nights sleep .. nite :)))

janetmk1 (38 )    11:26 pm, 9 Jul

 4560.     Good morning ladies

boop2 (106 )    9:55 am, 10 Jul

 4569.     Ooops

I did really know it was school holidays, as my grandchildren are home. Just had a senior moment, as my sister is a school teacher in Queensland and I got an e-mail from her this morning saying she is back to school today.

dize5 (462 )    9:58 am, 10 Jul

 4570.     Hi Bettyboop

I'm good thanks, just tired. Nearing the end of my working week, but I'm working til 10pm tonight, then covering for someone at 8am in the morning. That will be a challenge! Have 3 days off after that though (hopefully!). Lovely day here...cool but clear. Think I'll take a quick walk before I head off into town. When are you coming over here again? You never know, I may just head over to the coast one of these days.

maewest (76 )    10:00 am, 10 Jul

 4571.     Just a thought

When I had radiation I got quite badly burnt under my breast, and acres of aqueous cream couldn't cope, so the hospital gave me manuka honey. Very messy, but oh, so wonderful, and it did the trick. I see it has been mentioned on a thread, but I can vouch for it too.

dize5 (462 )    10:01 am, 10 Jul

 4574.     And Good Morning to

everyone else. Sonia will be meeting up with Bogey about now. It is a shame it is under such circumstances. Joystik, you amazing lady...are you still feeling great? Hope so. You will have to post a pic of you with your wig. I have been in touch with the lady down the road who had a mastectomy a couple of weeks ago. She starts chemo this Wednesday. Going to visit her on Friday..have a heap of scarves etc to lend her. Wish I had known someone else last year who was going through the same. Must be reassuring to talk to someone who has been there.

maewest (76 )    10:11 am, 10 Jul

 4575.     Paula I hope you

get Joshi's results back soon. How frustrating for you. Is his cough getting any better? And your shoulder too? Bogey, you didn't sound very well either. Hope you are feeling better today. Big ((Hugs)) to Josh and Ryan. And to you two as well of course XXX

maewest (76 )    10:17 am, 10 Jul

4576.     Hi meridian, thank you so much for your lovely

card and gift in this mornings mail. You're a wee sweetie aren't you. I have found that once you are in this position yourself, as I now am, it is really not difficult to offer fellow fighters a kind word of encouragement and positiveness. It seems to come much easier than negativity actually. In the earlier stages, I had a fair amount of awful negative thoughts going on, but now I see every day as the Big step onwards and upwards, and one day closer to when I will be completely rid of this MONSTER. Love and hugs to you for your kindness too...

joystik (282 )    11:04 am, 10 Jul

 4577.     no problem soniat-d

It's like my husband said to me once, if you have a problem that can be fixed by money, then you haven't a problem.....the underlining factor means that serious health issues, like cancer are a problem....can be a devastating problem.....money really isn't. And this was reiiterated the other day when I saw a woman, that i'd known from working at a service station that we go to and more recently at the bakery.

sundown (666 )    11:06 am, 10 Jul

 4578.     ....continued

I hadn't seen her for over three months as we've been on holiday in the states for that long....her and i started talking...and i asked her how she was....not thinking for one minute i was going to get the answer I did! In April she got pain in her leg...and then in her back, went into hospital for a whole lotta tests...she has lymphomic (not sure if this is the right word) or hodgekinsons disease. SHe's gone from a size 12 to a size 8, and undergoing chemo at the moment. It's shrunk the lumps.....and she's keeping positive...she's only early 40's. Also her husbands off work for a couple of months with serious back problems.... So it reiiterated....our position...we worry about nothing, if all we are doing is worrying about money. So when i saw your post i just had to have a read

sundown (666 )    11:11 am, 10 Jul

4579.     Hi Paula, hows your day going? Have you got

the results for the bloods back yet? Were you to go for more today?? Hope all is ticking over nicely in your camp. All is well here except for NO HOT WATER!! Just had the electrician and its a short in the wiring, so the cost will be on the installer seeing as it was new last year. That still doesnt give you hot water though for at least a few hours. Taking Lauren to the Dr with her Hip problem later today. Her hips semi dis locate, and we weretold a few years ago it is an alignment problem, which I think it is, but it needs sorted.. See you again soon

joystik (282 )    11:51 am, 10 Jul

Got to meet bogeyi and her awesome family :o) What lovely people, the boys were full of beans, even Ryan with like, no blood cells - what a champ :o) I'm just in awe of that lovely boy - he would have gone off for his blood after we left - hope that went well Bogeyi. He's O- Everyone who can donate blood - I sure hope you're doing so, for the sake of special children like Ryan :o) It was great meeting you Janine, hope we can together again soon ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:10 pm, 10 Jul

 4581.     hello

My friends. What a lovley lot of people I have met on here. Whether its personally or not I still feel like we have met. you are all so special. I went to the Dr's with Josh for more bloods - Invercargill hosp havent still got the results. Gore did though and his haemoglobin is 105. Neutraphils 1.0. So it will be interesting to see what todays ones are like. Wont know them until Wednesday now. :o/ It is a tad frustrating! Josh is under the effects of Dexamethasone. When he takes it even if for only 5 days he just gets so shirty. Best we just let him be. ;o) Maewest, landylass lovely to hear from you both as always xo

 4583.   Hi Sundown

Sorry to hear about that lady, but take heart, our cousin's wife had Hodgekins Disease when she was in her late teens/very early twenties and she recovered fully, no recurrence (touchwood) she's my age now (38) with 3 stunning kids (she was told back then she couldn't have any!). I like to think that any cancer is beatable with the right attitude (and treatments). Please send her my best wishes for a full recovery ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    1:14 pm, 10 Jul

 4584.     Hi Sonia

Well my friend a bit to tell you too.... The lady at Make A Wish thinks (Like me) you are an angel!!! Was so excited for us. She phoned me today to say change in plans - we arent going to Waiheke any more, Graeme Sinclair is picking the boys up on Thursday and taking them out for the day, got pressies for Josh and he is doing his darndest to make this a memorable a day as poss for our boy. MAN this is so cool. I cant wait to meet you. Ryan sounds like such a little trouper, arent they incredible these kids? Oh and by the way will be getting my mammogram appointment in the mail soon... ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    1:17 pm, 10 Jul

 4585.     Joystik

Is there a Southland Radiology place as thats where I will be going for my mammogram. She said you will have to pay $130 though. I dont care! Money well spent me thinks. xo

paulaxx (77 )    1:19 pm, 10 Jul

 4586.   Hi Paula :o)

Sorry to hear about all the holdups with the blood tests - why don't they treat them as urgent? I don't get it!? ((((((hugs)))))) Also sad to hear how much the dex affects him - oh the poor man - words fail me really - ((((((hugs)))))) xoxoxox

soniat-d (153 )    1:20 pm, 10 Jul

 4587.     Hi everyone.

I just wanted to let you all know that I always feel so stink when it comes to donating for Cancer as being on an Invalids bene doesn't allow for doing this. But today I posted 100 grams of 18cm length of hair, that I cut off my head yesterday, to the wig place in Auckland for child cancer patients or whoever needed it who had lost thier hair through having cancer. I've still got plenty left on my head though it is quite short and stylish. I will now set about growing it again for next year. Should get about the same again then. I grow such lovely strong hair, pretty colour too and it grows fast. So those who need it are welcome. it is the colour of old gold sort of brown with golden lights.

tis_me_chrissy (98 )    1:20 pm, 10 Jul

 4588.   Sonia

My sweet - thanks hun. Its ok, he is used to it. Last one today so he will be happier with life again soon. I still manage to make him laugh heaps. How are you feeling in yourself after the Vit C?

paulaxx (77 )    1:22 pm, 10 Jul

 4589.   tis me chrissy

What a lovely gesture. Thats very nice of you :O)

paulaxx (77 )    1:23 pm, 10 Jul

 4590.   Hi Meridian1

RU there??? Awwww thanks so much for the pressies - how sweet of you! They're gorgeous! And most appreciated! (Lydia's wearing her gorgeous necklace all around already, Emily wrapped her parcel up (as she does) and will unwrap it later LOL! And I love wine and throwing parties so my gift will certainly come in handy - Thank you!) Your message in the card was so sweet and well said - you're so special! Thanks again for that surprise act of kindness, and best wishes for the future xoxoxox

soniat-d (153 )    1:25 pm, 10 Jul

 4591.     Sonia

I forgot to answer your comment on Josh bloods. That is an urgetn request. The Gore lab is no longer operating so the blood has to go to Dunedin now, maybe was so slow because of the weekend. I know not - it does annoy me as if we lived closer to the main ammenities this wouldnt happen? Oh well you cant have everything. I do beleive that if there was something really major going on with him the lab would phone and they would get onto it? (((((hugs))))) to you too. 14 Sleeps to go ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    1:26 pm, 10 Jul

4592.     Thats good its his last one Paula ;o)

So how will he be when he comes to Auckland? And how is Cassies nose bleeds? Have they stopped?

soniat-d (153 )    1:28 pm, 10 Jul

 4593.         WOW tis me chrissy

What a great thing to do! Acts of thoughtfullness like that mean so much more than money ;o) Thats so sweet :o) Lucky you having such great hair to share xoxoxox

soniat-d (153 )    1:30 pm, 10 Jul

4594.     Hi Sonia...its pressie day all round....thank you

so much for the loads of things you sent down. I have been having a wee play already. Very trendy some of that stuff isnt it. You are so very kind. Thanks also for the BC wristbands, Lauren thought that was a very kool thing to have and is wearing hers too, and says thanks to you as well. She just took a couple of pics of me in the wig so I will see if I cn get them on here. Not the most photogenic person going thats for sure, but its ME!! Love to you Sonia, you're so sweet....

joystik (282 )    1:31 pm, 10 Jul

4595.     thank you...... but if all of us folk

with lovely strong hair did this how much easier people with cancer would be. Just one small thing That I've often thought about. But you know in the past I've always gone to a hairdresser to get it cut. They make so many snips and clips that I doubt any of it would be useful. This way I knew exaclty what I was doing. I will get a pic of my hair later so you can all see my new hair cut.

tis_me_chrissy (98 )    1:34 pm, 10 Jul

4596.     Hi Paula and Josh....more bloods! Hope they have

come up since the last ones. Why are thy going to Dunedin?? Is Invercargill not closer? And thats where his treatment is anyway?? Strange thing bueracracy!! Got the hot water going again. Had a new cylinder fitted about 9 months ago and the plumber whowired it in left a spade connecter loose which has been shorting and had eventually melted the plastic cover into the works and stopped it working! I asked him if it could have burned the house down, but he said no. I was very hankful for that. That Graeme Sinclair, is he the one off that programme on tv thats in the wheelchair?? He's great anyway. It will be so much fun for you all, and you will get to meet all our friends too....LUCKY!!

joystik (282 )    1:36 pm, 10 Jul

4597.     Thanks chrissy...what a lovely thing you have done

for some lucky person. I'm going to post a pic of my wig soon but mine is not real hair, but look good I think.....Hugs to you

joystik (282 )    1:37 pm, 10 Jul

4598.     Lucky you Sonia, meeting bogeyi and the kids.....

how exciting for you all. I'm O- blood too and wish I could give him some of mine, but right now definately woulnd't be a good time!! Can you ever donate again after having cancer???

joystik (282 )    1:39 pm, 10 Jul

 4599.   Joystik

Yes he is the one with MS. Gonna be a very special time thats for sure.

paulaxx (77 )    1:39 pm, 10 Jul

 4600.         Who will get it?????........

joystik (282 )    1:40 pm, 10 Jul

4601.            YAY!!! Sonia another hundy for a great cause!!!

Look at what you started here.....it takes a very long time to read now doesnt it?? YOU ROCK!!

joystik (282 )    1:41 pm, 10 Jul

 4602.            Sonia

We will go back for more bloods on Wednesday - not a complete blood count though. Just study bloods for the research Josh is helping with. I am hoping like anything he will be fine when we are in Auckland. Cant see anything stopping us from coming. Its all happening now - so we are right in two weeks time ;o) love to you

paulaxx (77 )    1:41 pm, 10 Jul

 4603.            Bogey

just thinking of you and hoping its all going ok for you all today. Hope Ryan and your coughs getting better! (((((hugs)))))

paulaxx (77 )    1:43 pm, 10 Jul

4604.            Oh ok Paula, he was down Stewart Island a while

and did a programme from down there which was relly good. Cloudy hee today too but not cold. Going to walk up the village soon....post more letters and take Lauren to Dr at 3.30...I still feel great. Tried to post on Josh's web site last night but couldnt...managed to get one on there this morning so dont know what was happening...

joystik (282 )    1:43 pm, 10 Jul

 4605.            Joystik

Thanks, wonder why? Hope Lauren is ok? Oh and I wonder too about the Invercargil being closer??? Oh well. Refresh my memory did you go to Dunedin for your Mammogram?

paulaxx (77 )    1:45 pm, 10 Jul

4606.            No Paula, I went to the Mammography Cottage at

Kew. Its that white building right out the window when you're sitting in the Cafe. Why do you have to go to Southland Radiology?? I went to Kew and had to pay the $104 or whatever it was. Ironically, as I left that day last July, the office lady smiled at me and said, "If you come after you birthday in August next year, you wont have to pay cos you will be 45"!! How handy!!(Am I being sarcastic??)

joystik (282 )    1:51 pm, 10 Jul

4607.            Paula, Lauren has a problem with her hips, knees,

and ankles. We were told by a Dr in Oamaru that it was to do with alignment, but it stops her doin so much, and her hips seem to almost partially dislocate at times, which is very painful. It used to be her ankles and she had a lot of physio to strengthen them, and now they seem pretty good but almost, it would seem at the deterement of her hips. I'll let you know what the Dr Fonz says!

joystik (282 )    1:55 pm, 10 Jul

4608.            Well, here's the pics of me sporting the new

hair do..... http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/64/24012364_full.jpg and http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/64/24012305_full.jpg Hope thats them.

joystik (282 )    2:09 pm, 10 Jul

4609.            Hi Bogeyi, glad you were lucky enough to meet

up with the lovely Sonia today. Sounds like your Ryan was full of beans bouncing around the place. Thats so good to hear. I guess you have a busy couple of weeks now coming up to the transplant. Thanks for the info about that side of it too....Most interesting but rather harrowing what you all have to endure i think. Hugs to you all there too....

joystik (282 )    2:11 pm, 10 Jul

4610.            Nice to see you have popped in Landylass in

your very busy schedule. Sorry things arent going so well for you with the other problems cropping up. You have enough to contend with one thing, let alone half a dozen other majors as well. I am really doing so well on all this treatment so far, without any real side effects at all. It has been so kind to me, but like I have siad before, It has to be the supplements as much as anything. Hope you have a good week, and watch those jolly icy roads. Love to you too....

joystik (282 )    2:16 pm, 10 Jul

4611.            Hi Boop, good to see you too. Yes I did watch

that spelling Bee last night but didn't enjoy it as much as Dancing with the stars! I always thought my spelling was pretty up to scratch, but now I'm not so sure about it. Some of those words I have never even heard, have you?? Hope you are having a nice day up in tropical Buller. Its not quite a tropical down here today but is still quite warm. I'm just off for a walk....see you later...

joystik (282 )    2:21 pm, 10 Jul

4612.            Hi Maewest, pleased you are keeping the bugs at

bay. They would never catch you anyway, you arealways so busy buzzing about and working such long hours and days. Hope you have a few quiet days off when you get to them soon. All is going well with me here and I'm keeping up those supplements!! Take care and love to you too....

joystik (282 )    2:25 pm, 10 Jul

4613.         Hey joystik your wig looks great :o)

soniat-d (153 )    3:15 pm, 10 Jul

 4616.         Sonia

You are such a darling!!! Cassielle is alright thanks, sorry forgot to answer you before when you asked about the wee cherub. She does get these blood noses and just to be sure we will get her checked out when our dr comes back from o/seas. Whe I saw the referral for my mammogram it cracked me up, there was no history of anything just had reference to son having leukaemia. Maybe they are letting me do this just to appease me? Still I dont mind at least I am getting what I wanted. ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    3:36 pm, 10 Jul

 4617.         OMG

So Hospital just phoned and Josh has to stop all treatment!!!! He is Neutrapenic and platelets gone up to 552. At least we know and will now have to go for bloods next week to see if the counts have recovered some.

paulaxx (77 )    3:41 pm, 10 Jul

 4618.            Joystik

Hope the appointment with Lauren went ok, poor girl!!!!! It is so horrible when kids are in pain. i hope they can help her! Thinking of you hun xo Beautiful photo. It looks amazing!!!!!! Yea you do look at the most 31 ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    3:42 pm, 10 Jul

 4619.            Oh Paula :o(

Poor Josh! Not what is needed eh?! Hope his bloods can recover somehow ASAP - do they give you any tips on what he should eat or do to help? I was told during chemo that nothing could be done to help it, but have since heard certain recommendations I wish I'd heard at the time!?! Anyway, sending positive vibes and ((((hugs)))) in Josh's direction. #sigh# Wish we could help him more... xoxoxox

soniat-d (153 )    3:51 pm, 10 Jul

soniat-d (153 )    4:57 pm, 10 Jul

 4626.            Paula ...

What does being neutrapenic imply? His immune system is comprimised??? Oh, I hope he will be okay for your trip. Heaps of positive vibes going out to you!!!

meridian1 (294 )    5:46 pm, 10 Jul

 4627.            Joystick ...

glad you liked the wee gift. I hope the Drs get Lauren's hips sorted. If you get no luck from them, have you thought of trying an osteopath or acupuncture? I am not speaking with any knowledge of what Lauren's problem, just the knowledge of how good osteo and accup can be for many different ailments. Poor Lauren :-(

meridian1 (294 )    5:50 pm, 10 Jul

 4628.            Sonia ...

I'm glad you and the girls liked your wee gifts as well. How nice for you to meet bogeyi, Ryan etc. It's lovely to hear that he was bouncing around (like boys do!).

meridian1 (294 )    6:01 pm, 10 Jul

 4629.            Meridian

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes Neutrapenia is a condition you get when your Neutraphils (White Blood Cells) get too low. Which means you have no ablility to fight infections etc. Thks again

paulaxx (77 )    6:02 pm, 10 Jul

4630.            your wig looks great joystik

it's amazing what they can do these days! THe lady i was talking about earlier with hodgesons....is wearing a wig also...and you just wouldn't pick that it's not her real hair. Looking good....the colours and styles are great now....not like 30 years ago huh? thanks for your kind wishes soniat-d regarding our friend....i'll check up on her soon and keep you informed. How much more treatment do you have soniat-d?

sundown (666 )    6:03 pm, 10 Jul

4631.            OH Joystick ....

I forgot to tell you .... your new do looks totally awesome!!! No wonder you had that bit of 'excitement' the other day (hehe).

 4632.            BIG BIG HUGS

to Joshi... and of course to you Paula xxxx Your big trip sounds so exciting!!!!

meridian1 (294 )    6:17 pm, 10 Jul

 4633.         Hi sundown

I've finished the first round of treatments (6 months chemotherapy - AC followed by Taxotere) and several months of radiation. Still have the new lumps but they've shrunk. Two new suspicious lumps (one in liver, one on ovary) to be determined in 6 weeks. Till then, taking daily pile of supplements and having vitamin C infusions twice a week. Don't know whats next till we know what those new lumps are. So major crossing fingers required in 6 weeks ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    6:42 pm, 10 Jul

4634.            I spent the day with my sister

today .... we had to work our outing around her appointment to give blood. She and her hubby do it regularly - yay! I wanted to give blood last year, but was gutted when they wouldn't take mine. I asked them how long it would take before I could, and was told that they will never take my blood (because of the BC) Boo hoo! My sister told the person taking her blood today that she had to give for both of us - sweet aye!

meridian1 (294 )    6:42 pm, 10 Jul

 4635.            Bogeyi

I just checked with my sister - her blood type is O+ and her hubby's is A- (very rare apparently) Neither are helping Ryan out directly - but as I reminded her, they ARE helping someone. Both of them have encouraged many others to donate as well!

meridian1 (294 )    7:01 pm, 10 Jul

4636.            we are home what a long day

Sonia thanks so much for calling in today, your girls are gorgeous, hope your car was fine..lol Ryan said to me in the lift, I didn't know Sonia wore a wig, that is cool maybe i should get one like that. Hopefully we can catch up for coffee soon, have fun tomorrow.

bogeyi (483 )    7:05 pm, 10 Jul

 4637.            ok update for today

as Sonia said Ryan received some blood today, hes now a nice peachy colour and has energy to burn. We had our meeting today and went as expected we know whats happening hes having same meds but double dose chemo and radiation, so have been told he will get very sick :( was given a percentage of success and that I didnt want to hear. When he has his hickman in next week they will also put in a nasal tube as they said he wont want to eat, with nausea, muscitis etc, hes not to happy about that but happy they will put it in when hes asleep. Then we decided to do Tylers bloods today, he needed the line in his arm (was not looking forward to telling him) had a couple of tears but did it like a champ, im so proud of him and this was one of his worries. So now our journey begins and am ready to take it head on and get it over and done with. I am so glad I have you guys for support and ride this wave with me. Thanks

 4641.            Hi bogeyi ;o)

Car was still there LOL It was a shame there was that pressure to leave would've stayed much longer ;o) Yep call me if you have a window of free time - would love to catch up again without the ticking time limit ;o) Hate those % success statements - we're not numbers, we're people! Try to brush that aside if you can. Awww poor Tyler, what a champ he is, doing all this for his brother. They'll have an amazing bond when they're older I'm sure (as I'm sure they have already ;o) Hope it isn't a migraine sweets - they suck too, bigtime :o/ !!!

soniat-d (153 )    8:02 pm, 10 Jul

4642.            yeah am brushing that aside just dont

Just finally caught up on Josh's journal. Going to head off to bed now. So hope you all have a good night sleep. Bogey hows the head?

paulaxx (77 )    9:36 pm, 10 Jul

4652.         Just want to say I think all you ladies are

amazing. I read this thread every day - not because I have cancer, or any family members with cancer, but because you are such an inspiration to all of us. When my kids are "annoying the hell" out of me, I think of paulaxx and bogeyi whose kids are going through so much, and give thanks that my kids are so well. I hope one of you has actually saved this thread somewhere/somehow, as it truly would be a disaster if it disappeared.

mimi1 (224 )    9:56 pm, 10 Jul

boop2 (106 )    11:31 pm, 10 Jul

 4656.         Morning all :o)

Yep Boop knows me well LOL I was up a bit late last night tidying up (well overdue!) etc. I'm suddenly finding it hard dropping off to sleep - just don't feel tired. Hopefully that'll pass?! Emily's being a good girl again (= no more public displays of chaos, touchwood!). She ended up in our bed last night (OK I brought her down when she started whimpering ;o) and cuddled her all night - she's soooo lovely to sleep with. I was naughty bringing her down but... :o) Morning all hope you have a good morning - we're off soon to the Cinderella show, the girls are going to wear their fancy fairy dresses. Should be fun - thanks again Bogeyi for giving us the tickets :o) :o) :o) :o)

bogeyi (483 )    8:48 am, 11 Jul

 4661.         Bogeyi

You poor thing, must of looked like a picture though you two curled up together. Glad your heads a bit better!!! Josh is not looking great. His cough is sooooo chesty now, but I have to say it was nice to not have to worry about all the meds etc.

paulaxx (77 )    8:58 am, 11 Jul

 4662.         Maewest

Hope work was ok last night. Have a nice day today and thanks for your lovely thoughts xo

paulaxx (77 )    8:59 am, 11 Jul

4663.         Hi Paula, glad things are a little better for you

all today there. Yeah a night off from giving the drugs would have been good. Hope the cough soon disappears completely and he is as fit as a fiddle to go up north. Not even two weeks to go nowso time will just fly by. Dr Fonz is sending Lauren for an X-ray to make sure the hips are properly in the sockets before he does anything else. He is inclined to think that all this has come about because she has grown so big, so quickly through the 11-14 years. She has probably increased in height 30 cm and weight probably 15-20kg, and he just thinks that the muscles haven't had time to catch up. The Dr himself is very tall at about 6'6" and said he experienced the same things as a teenager because of excessive growth. He moved the ankle, knee and hip joints about, and said that Lauren is also extremely flexible, which would also add to the problem if the tendons and muscles aren't strong enough to hold the joints. So, we will see bu it will possibly take 2 months to get the xray!

joystik (282 )    9:15 am, 11 Jul

4664.         Sonia, you have a happy day at the Cinderella

show today and we will look forward to more pics of the little ladies in their fairy dress's. So are you not sleeping well even with the increased melatonin?? The only time I dont sleep is when I'm on those blimmin steroids for 2 days, and I dont like it either! The rest of the time I am asleep within 10 minutes of turning the light out, and wake after 10+ hours! I think there's an animal that sleeps much like that isn't there?? What is it?? It certainly isn't because you aren't tired, because you never stop during the day. Must have been so exciting meeting Ryan and his family yesterdy, you lucky thing. One day we're gong to come up and meet you all too..

joystik (282 )    9:19 am, 11 Jul

4665.         Hi Bogeyi, hope things are better at your house

today. Glad the migraine has left, nasty things that they are, not that I have ever had one but both Lauren and Kevin used to get them wickedly. Must be the supplements, haven't had one for ages, either of them. You little boys really are great little guys for each other aren't they? You must be so proud of them. Is Kirst'y bone marrow a match as well or just Tylers? What about you and your husband? Do you get the match like you do with the blood types? Hope Ryan is well enough to meet up with Josh in a couple of weeks....wouldn't tha be just awesome. Have a good day bogeyi - I think about you all the time and send good thoughts your way to hopefully help you through this rough stuff.....

joystik (282 )    9:24 am, 11 Jul

4666.         paula just to let you know

cant remember on here who suggested the manuka honey (but whoever it was thanks) that sunday I took Ryan to hospital I was sure we were going to be back in, he was sounding terrible but I was giving him a teaspoon of the honey (he just sucks it off the spoon) and the next day no sore throat and cough heaps better????the only thing different i was doing was giving him the honey... We bought this when he went into transplant for the ulcers which he never got, but have been told that he will get them this time so will have it on hand and hopefully will give him some relief.

bogeyi (483 )    9:26 am, 11 Jul

4667.         Gee maewest, I was still lying in my bed half

asleep and you were off to work! What a trouper you are too. No doubt you will be looking forward to your days off and a bit of time to relax and do some stuff for your self. Thanks for your comments about the wig. I think it looks ok, and similiar, but in other ways quite different.. I have always had my hair quite short and layered through the top, whereas this is very long through that part. But its good as! I'm going to study today and try writing up some Sale and purchase agreements. Not hard actually, just requires some thinking and application. Enjoy your day....

joystik (282 )    9:29 am, 11 Jul

4668.         Manuka honey is so good for so many things.....

my elderly Auntie had a leg ulcer and was told to bath it in sea water and then cover it with manuka honey, which she did and the improvement was amazing. So much for the drug companies and all their wonder drugs.........

joystik (282 )    9:31 am, 11 Jul

4669.         Good morning Boop, Have you a supre day in

the Buller regin today? It is still very warm here, obviously nor west, but overcast. I dont mind though, its quite pleasant not having the frosts at the moment. Yes, it is lovely having Lauren back. Shes a nice girl and lovely to have around most of the time! Its like having a friend in the house as well, but then its like that with Kevin too. He's my best friend as well as my husband! Lauren is wanting her friend Laura to come and stay, so we'll have to see what we can arrange. They can sing and play X-BOX and I will study. How do you plan to fill in the day? More work at the Op Shop? My frind in Perth manages an Op Shop and just loves it. I think its on a fairly grand scale compared to what we have here though. Talk again soon....

joystik (282 )    9:36 am, 11 Jul

4670.         Good morning mimi, jules, sundown and dize....

thanks so much for taking the time to pop in and post such lovely messages. It so heart warming to know that there is supposrt from so many people out there. This Cancer thing reaches out and touches so many in both good ways and not so good. Interesting about the blood Meridian. So that will mean then that I wont beable to donate any more of my good O - blood either I suppose. Dont know how many donations I did give, but would have been over 20 I suppose. I so much enjoyed doing that, Another thing that always impressed my was, how pleased the College boys were to all line up and give their 475mls each time the Blood service came. The Local boys College would bring a whole bus load in, at a time, and it was just great to see all these young fellas helping out and being so positive. Have a great day ladies wont you....

joystik (282 )    9:44 am, 11 Jul

 4671.         Bogey

I am going to give Josh a spoonful of the manuka honey now. Cant believe I have dont it till now, his tastes are so out of whack he wont try different things. Gone right off food again - so wish me luck - might have to get a bit stroppy and insist. xo glad it helped Ryan

paulaxx (77 )    11:00 am, 11 Jul

4672.      Oh that is so cute

he opened his mouth looking really suss at me. You should have seen his face - not pretty. I went away and washed the spoon etc (had a bit myself) then came back and he looked at me smuggly and said can I have some more lol. I said later. Thanks so much for reminding me about that Bogeyi!

paulaxx (77 )    11:03 am, 11 Jul

 4673.      Hi Joystik

The Dr's explanation certainly makes sense, so now I guess you just wait for the xray. Poor Lauren she must be in pain though thats not great! Hope you are all good. Ive just caught up on all teh book work here, done the GST and PAYE and all the fun stuff. Love to you all xo

paulaxx (77 )    11:06 am, 11 Jul

 4674.         good afternoon all :))

I hope your all having a good day especially Ryan and Josh.I still swear by manuka honey and vit c.for any burns manuka honey is excellent but messy!! Joy that wig really suits you, looks very natural. Did the Dr give lauren any strengthening exercises, it really helps. My son Ryan has a very similar problem and it was made worse on his left side by the encephalitus. Paula I would imagine you would see similar in Josh where one side is weaker and its very noticeable when they are tired? For years Ryan walked with a lean to the left but as they grow and strengthen the muscles it does improve to the point where its only you can pick it occassionally. The only thing thats still obvious to me me is Ryans left foot points outwards when he walks and I think some of that is coz hes flat footed. The Brain heals very well in children :))

janetmk1 (38 )    12:24 pm, 11 Jul

 4675.         bookwork :))

I am doing the same today Paula:) DO you work from home too?

janetmk1 (38 )    12:26 pm, 11 Jul

4676.         Hi Janet, this Dr was preferring to see if there

was aproblem with the positioning of the hips first before he would start any sort of strengthening or manipulation. He was rather appalled that anyone had put gher too and extensive physio programme without first ascertaining if there was a structural problem. She had a lot of physio on her ankles and knees, and although they are generally better, it seems to have made the hips much worse. Glad to here you had success with yur Ryan. I'm off out now for a walk, the day is so sunny and warm.....

joystik (282 )    1:05 pm, 11 Jul

4677.         Good on you Josh for trying out the Manuka honey..

wonder what Malt is like for giving extra boost?? We as kids, were always sent off to school in the morning, in winter, with a spoonful of Maltexo in our mouths. I quite like it actually, but dont know how good it is for you. You,ll be feeling much better real soon anyway Josh.

joystik (282 )    1:07 pm, 11 Jul

4678.         Heres a pic of my Lauren......

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/99/24064199_full.jpg Not a very good photo but shes a bit like you bogeyi, and pulls a face or sticks her tongue out when you want her to be serious about a pic. Shes taller than both Kevin and I and built very solidly!!, but just a super young lady really.....says the proud mummy!!

joystik (282 )    1:13 pm, 11 Jul

4679.         thanks for the pic joystik

she sounds like my type of girl pulling funny faces and all. Sonia how was the show, good i hope.Paula glad he liked it, i to forgot i had mine in the fridge.

bogeyi (483 )    2:03 pm, 11 Jul

4680.      Thanks for showing us your lovely Lauren Joystik

I can see the family resemblance :o) So she's cheeky eh? Just like Emily ;o) Hope she's feeling better today :o)

soniat-d (153 )    2:15 pm, 11 Jul

4681.         Ok, so a big fun day today :o)

Took the girls to Cinderalla - they loved it - it was a great small show with 4 actors (2 men 2 women) doing about 10 roles. Lots of good humour and fun! Thanks so much Bogeyi :o) Took them to a local pet shop after then to McD's for lunch - major treat morning! LOL Been busy now finalising our Fiji holiday - yay its all booked now and IS happening :o) Woohoo! OK off soon for my vitamin C infusion.

soniat-d (153 )    2:21 pm, 11 Jul

4682.         Yes Sonia, she's cheeky alright! Always has been

right from a wee tot. shes grown up so quickly though, its a bit sad in lots of ways. How was the Cinderella show Sonia?? Bet it was wonderful. Well I must go and ride my bike for 1/2 hour, then come home and get the washing in. Its so lovely and sunny here and 16.6deg. Just phoned Paula, but shes not in, sotaked to Chris for 30minutes. He's lovely just like Paula too....Josh is on the X_-Box and seems happy too so thats great.

joystik (282 )    2:24 pm, 11 Jul

 4683.         Hi Joystik ;o)

Yes I'll be asking them questions today about the effect on my sleep. Check how much melatonin I should be having etc. The melatonin worked so well at first - have I become used to it already (bit fast!) or is the Vit C rush overriding it? Will be interesting to see what he says. Wierdest thing is... I'm not tired, even after only 6 hours sleep!?! That's not right!

soniat-d (153 )    2:24 pm, 11 Jul

4684.         Kool, when do you go Sonia?? Did you say mid

August?? That will go really fast. Its less than 2 weeks before Josh and family are up to seee you all, and boy they are so excited...

joystik (282 )    2:26 pm, 11 Jul

4685.         Thats good Sonia about not being tired, but a good

sleep is very good for you. If I take a magazine or book to bed to read, I would bee asleep within 5 minutes, not the usual 10! Anyway,I must go now and ride the bike and see where the fire engine has gone.....the siren went for ages....

joystik (282 )    2:28 pm, 11 Jul

 4686.         Yep we're going for 10days

13 - 23 :o) Staying at the Sofitel which is apparently awesome. The trouble was finding suitable rooms for families like ours where kids sleep a lot more than the parents ;o) Got a family room with queen bed and bunks seperated by a pull-across partition.

soniat-d (153 )    2:30 pm, 11 Jul

4687.         how cool can I come I love Fiji

Glad you had a fun day Sonia, did they girls like the humour in it (or did they think this is not cinderella). No bunny in the car??

bogeyi (483 )    2:35 pm, 11 Jul

 4688.         Sonia

Looks a bit threatening actually. More snow on the way??!! Sonia, glad you all had a lovely day. Bet your girls looked really cute in their costumes. My sleep patterns are all over the place too. Lucky you Joystik, being able to drop straight off to sleep. Where's Twinkies?? She hasn't been on here for ages. Do hope everything is okay with her and Briyanna.

Silly me! Thanks will try that ;o) They suggested I find out why they can't infuse through my other hand, as the veins are awesome there (I'll never be a hand model LOL!) So am ringing oncologist soon too, as we think its be great to have it going directly through the affected side ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    5:31 pm, 11 Jul

 4705.         Hi Sonia

They will probably say no! I think it is all to do with the risk of lymphoedema in your arm. Awww...Fiji sounds wonderful. Something to look forward to.

maewest (76 )    5:34 pm, 11 Jul

 4706.      Yeah I know Maewest

Actually I saw a lady with lymphodema there today - wow! Looks terrible!?! And I know it can kill...

soniat-d (153 )    5:35 pm, 11 Jul

4707.         The worst part of it is Sonia

that once you have, you have it for life. I don't think it is worth the risk having needles in your other arm. I got a rose thorn in my 'bad' hand last summer and within 24 hours my whole hand was up like a balloon. Straight to the dr for antibiotics!

maewest (76 )    5:38 pm, 11 Jul

 4708.      I understand Maewest

It just, right at the mo, my veins are pretty shot on the left side, lots of bruising, few prominent veins. #Shrugs#

soniat-d (153 )    5:42 pm, 11 Jul

 4709.      Poor Sonia

Not fair - hugs coming to you and your poor hand and bruises (((((HUGS)))))

paulaxx (77 )    5:44 pm, 11 Jul

 4710.         I understand

I know when I have to have blood tests now it takes them an age to find a vein. It's just something we have to put up with I guess.

maewest (76 )    5:44 pm, 11 Jul

4711.         we are all off to the movies to see

pirates of the carribean soon, cant remember the last time 5 of us went altogether..

bogeyi (484 )    7:07 pm, 11 Jul

 4712.         Bogeyi

I took the boys yesterday I hope you enjoy it :)

janetmk1 (38 )    7:27 pm, 11 Jul

 4713.         Bogeyi

Cool, hope you have the best time.

paulaxx (77 )    7:46 pm, 11 Jul

4714.         Sonia, do you want to borrow my Port??? I think

that is going to prove invaluable for me, cos my veins aren't that good on a good day.

joystik (283 )    7:47 pm, 11 Jul

 4715.         Sonia

Not sure if you have already said if so sorry, but did they say the Vit C is keeping you awake?

paulaxx (77 )    7:48 pm, 11 Jul

 4716.      Hi Joystik

Chris really did love chatting to you today ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    7:49 pm, 11 Jul

4717.         We haven't been to the movies for ages.....

bit far to go from here, and I would probably go to sleep or 'play up' and embarass Lauren!!

joystik (283 )    7:49 pm, 11 Jul

4718.         Paula, sorry I missed you too. It was nice to have

a chat to Chris. I think we discussed lots of worthwhile topics. Tell Chris the fire engine went out Nightcaps direction, so it wasn't me buring the tea again!! Hows the hair do tonight?? Any pics coming on stream??

joystik (283 )    7:51 pm, 11 Jul

 4719.         Joystik

You sound like fun to go to the movies with... No, no pics tonight. My hairdresser has lightened my hair ready for the next competition in Invercargill on 23 July. So it was a session with some technicians from Wella today to get it back to a more natural colour. (Bit too dark before - I thought) She also trimmed it so its looking like a bob now.

paulaxx (77 )    7:57 pm, 11 Jul

4720.         Vitamin C does keep you awake!! I had a bad

experience with grapefruit a few years ago. We had a huge tree absolutely loaded with grapefruit on a property we lived at, and they were so delicious that every time I walked past, I would pick one and eat it. Some days I would eat 6 or 8 or maybe more. Within 3 or 4 days, I was awake all night with not even a hint of wanting to sleep, and went to the DR. He quickly ascertained that it was the grapefruit and Iwas banned from eating them. Took me ages to start wanting to sleep again, but I was probably still sneeking the odd grapefruit.

joystik (283 )    8:03 pm, 11 Jul

 4721.         Thats

Interesting - Im not too sure exactly how much Sonia is having with each infusion. I have been taking up to 6000mg a day at the mo as i am really trying to fight off this cough. I have found it hard to get to sleep. Well that will explain it!!!

paulaxx (77 )    8:05 pm, 11 Jul

4722.         Bet it looks just great Paula. You've got a ....

beautiful face and such lovely skin too. So is there a theme for the next competition? Gothic's dont usually have lighter hair do they?? Yes Paula, I'm hopeless in the dark!!!

joystik (283 )    8:05 pm, 11 Jul

 4723.         LOL

Sounds intriguing. If we meet at Kew again I might have to turn the lights off... lol. I am in the day wear category and dont know what my hairdresser is going to do yet, she is very clever so its going to be fun. Not Gothic this time.

paulaxx (77 )    8:07 pm, 11 Jul

4724.         Yes I'm sure that would be enough to upset the

sleeping patterns. The other thing I found out about grapefruit, at the same time, was that you shouldn't eat grapefruit or drink the juice when using contraceptive pills! Wonder that I didnt end up with 10 kids the amount I was eating of it!!

joystik (283 )    8:09 pm, 11 Jul

 4725.         Thank you

funny you should say that about my skin cos I thought your skin was gorgeous too. My mum used to work in cosmetics etc and said to me once when I was really young - You only ever get one face, look after it. So I try. Using a new product John Plunkett at the moment and its wonderful stuff xo

paulaxx (77 )    8:09 pm, 11 Jul

 4726.         Ha ha

Yes well, I heard that about Vit c too, I dont have to worry about that anymore traded the Ute in last year. Quite nice too I have to say - dont miss it at all. ;o)

paulaxx (77 )    8:11 pm, 11 Jul

4727.         No it would only be at the movies Paula!! Got to

be the right environment and Kew wouldn't do it for me at all. If you turned the lights out there, I would probably go to sleep......

joystik (283 )    8:11 pm, 11 Jul

 4728.         Right

Gotcha - that place doesnt do it for me either - funny that...

paulaxx (77 )    8:13 pm, 11 Jul

4729.         Oh okPaula, I almost had mine traded in too

when I went in to have fibroids done but they just removed them and left the rest intact. I was quite disappointed actually, cos I dont require it anymore either. There were 2 fibroids the size of oranges!! Have to wonder now if the cancer thing didnt have something to do with that too seeing as mine is a hormone receptor positive variety. Unfortunately the fibroids do return to, as I think mine are now again, and thats only after 3 years. Bummer!

joystik (283 )    8:18 pm, 11 Jul

 4730.      Oh what a crock

Mum said something to me when I told her I was waiting for my mammogram apptmt. I have always had high oestrogen and that can be a trigger! Interesting stuff huh?

paulaxx (77 )    8:20 pm, 11 Jul

 4731.         When I say Crock

I mean poor you. Yes they werent sure if I would be fixed either, with my hyster. I had such major complications and my bladder and bowel were involved with edometriosis, all my bowel and bladder and ovaries etc were all adhered and had disease too so it wasnt good. 6 weeks later I was back in and it had all adhered again. I still get pain, but keep it to myself now as I dont want anymore surgery. If it got too bad I would go but too much else on at the mo

paulaxx (77 )    8:23 pm, 11 Jul

4732.         I have always used lots of moisturiser especially,

but also always been quite keen on makeup too. So thats good for keeping your skin good, especially if you live in areas where there is a lot of sun. I sent a big part of my life in the Nelson area and the sun is pretty vicious there. And, quite true, you only have one so its a good thing to care for it. Lauren uses lots of moisturisers too but not really into much make up yet. I think her friend put her off makeup for life. She kinda puts it on like a clown! And her mum has never given her any advise on it at all. I tried, but she wasn't listening that day either. Such a shame, because it did look really ridiculous, as you can probably imagine!!

joystik (283 )    8:24 pm, 11 Jul

 4733.         Paula,thats nasty....my fibroids weren't that bad.

but I just got more and more tired, because they were bleeding continuously for about 7 weeks. Much like a nightmare really. I was caregiving for Barnardos at the time and little people can quite tire you out during the day. I was usually asleep at the dinner table at 7pm and thats not normal for me, but very straightforward op and no complications, and in fact I worked the next day, with 4 babies!!

joystik (283 )    8:28 pm, 11 Jul

 4734.         LOL

I went thru a stage when I was young when black eyeliner was so cool I would put it on so thick and use concealer on my lips and then vaseline over the top, cant believe mum let me out. Guess she knew I'd grow up and out of that wee habit

paulaxx (77 )    8:29 pm, 11 Jul

 4735.         Wow

See you are incredible. I better love and leave you now and go and spend some time with Chris. Have a great night and hope you have sweet dreams xo Nite all

paulaxx (77 )    8:31 pm, 11 Jul

 4736.         Joystik

Thanks for chatting tonight - Take care xo

paulaxx (77 )    8:31 pm, 11 Jul

4737.         Righto Paula, I'm watching Coronation street, and

Kevins on the phone. Love to you all too, and I hope Josh is feeling much better by tomorrow. Keep up the Manuka honey. Nite nite.....

joystik (283 )    8:36 pm, 11 Jul

4738.         Maewest, they told me definately NO NEEDLES

in my left arm EVER! I happy with that. I saw a lady with lymphodema at the Look Good Feel Better afternoon, and it looked terrible and was monsterous too. Ouchy..... it really looked terrible and made me very keen to take care of mine. Glad you have got a few days off now. Hopeypu are going to do some fun things for yourself....

joystik (283 )    9:11 pm, 11 Jul

4739.         I think Coronation street goes a bit long on

Tuesdays now. It seems to have been going all night, and I'm sick of the sight of that Tracey!!

joystik (283 )    9:12 pm, 11 Jul

4740.         Well I think I might go to bed now and get some

beauty sleep. Feeling a bit tired tonight after my bike riding expedition. Went miles further than I had intended. The day was so warm (16deg) and sunny, so I just went to visit Kevin at the other house and then went biking and biking and only got home at 4.30!! Pleased you have all had a good day too. Hope you can get to sleep Sonia - wish it was a easy for you as it is for me. Sweet dreams everyone and see you all tomorrow.....Hugs....Heather

joystik (283 )    10:05 pm, 11 Jul

 4741.         maewest

I was told never to have injections of any kind in my left arm (I had BC in the left breast) and never ever to have blood pressure taken on that arm either. That is why I spoke last week on this thread about the importance of wearing a pressure sleeve when flying, to avoid lymphodaemia.

dize5 (465 )    10:37 pm, 11 Jul

 4742.      Thanks dize5 and others

Yep thats what I've been told too - just want to check why. When I was told that previously I decided I should get a medicalert bracelet to alert if I'm unconscious (in accident or whatever) and my oncologist said it wasn't necessary, saying "If you're in that situation, lymphodaema is the least of your worries". So if it doesn't warrant a medicalert....??? Hmm will just ask the question tomorrow - it is a sterile needle and solution after all?

soniat-d (153 )    11:16 pm, 11 Jul

 4743.      Hi all

Yep look at me up way too late LOL Have taken 3 melatonins on his instructions, feeling slight twinges of tiredness now. As others have mentioned above (thank you guys ;o) yep Vit C can affect us this way, but the higher melatonin should help - off to test that now ;o) Night all :o)

soniat-d (153 )    11:18 pm, 11 Jul

4744.      Awww thanks for the hugs Paula :o)

Hey, compared to what you and Bogeyi's sweet boys are putting up with, hey, what am I complaining about?! Just gonna drink heaps of water again now and again in morning and keep my fingers crossed for next blood test!

soniat-d (153 )    11:21 pm, 11 Jul

 4745.         Hi Sonia

MMM Im thinking that the Vit C is playing havoc with my sleep. Only thing I can put it down too. Or maybe stress? NAH we'll go with the Vit C. Hope you are all snuggled up in bed by now and ready for lots a sweet dreams. More hugs (((((HUGS))))) cos I can xo

paulaxx (77 )    11:44 pm, 11 Jul

 4746.         Oh Paula!

That was late for you! Are you still taking the Melatonin inducing supplements? I'm supposed to take my melatonin 1 hour before bed and be in the dark (to maximise it). It worked last night - yay! If yours are inducing you should maybe take them earlier? Or do the darkness thing? I'm taking 10g now (well 9 actually, 3 x 3g, but when they run out I'll buy the 10g ones). Yep definately the vitamin C. I am so unbelievably thirsty and dry (side-effect of vit c) can't satisfy it no matter how much I drink - I just keep on drinking!!!! It comes out really dark, so clearly it is being absorbed, just not enough! Anyway morning all, I'm just up 1/2 an hour ago, go a good 8 hours sleep - yay!

soniat-d (153 )    8:36 am, 12 Jul

 4747.         morning sonia

how are you all this morning..

bogeyi (484 )    8:44 am, 12 Jul

 4748.         We're all good thanks :o)

Nice day out. Girls going to Nannas this morning while I try to have my blood test again - gotta keep drinking water!!! How are your boys?

soniat-d (153 )    9:00 am, 12 Jul

 4749.         they are good

up and causing havoc, kirsty still asleep, didnt get home till midnight...

bogeyi (484 )    9:18 am, 12 Jul

 4750.      Morning Sonia and Bogeyi

Glad you got a good nights sleep last night Sonia. How was the movie Bogey. We are off to have study bloods done for Josh. So I will tune in again later. xo

paulaxx (77 )    9:20 am, 12 Jul

4751.         Morning all, I m last up again!! I'm only taking

500 or 1000mg Vit C so its probably not affecting me at all. And I'm the worlds BEST Sleeper. Hope the blood test goes OK Sonia. I think a Medic alert would be great because even in the hospital with a red band on that arm, I still had to be very proactive and stop nurses and Dr's from using that arm. Must check it out. Hope Josh's bloods go ok too Paula. Been raining here so not going to do much, and maybe no biking today. Hi Bogeyi and Ryan...hope all is well at your place today too. Better dive into the shower before Lauren's friend arrives. She's so happy and excited that her friend Laura is coming to stay. But, you get that lots with an only child. Have a great day everyone and see you all soon.....

joystik (283 )    9:27 am, 12 Jul

 4752.         Hmmmm!

After reading the thread before I went to bed, I had a ponder and wondered if I should get a medic-alert bracelet to say no needles, blood pressure, etc. in my left arm, then I dismissed the idea and thought I was over-reacting. It is not as if I am diabetic, have severe drug allergies, etc. However after reading what joystik said, I am wondering again. Will see what other people on this thread have been told.

dize5 (465 )    9:59 am, 12 Jul

 4753.         Hi All

Have been reading this thread with interest regarding lymphodemia.I am a B/C survivor 10 years now and all of a sudden overnight i developed lymphodemia.I have ended up with arthritis which they think has done it. I was always very mindfull of no needles in arm etc glove for gardening never had b/pressure taken in that arm and couldn't prevent it, Its mild have gentle draining exercises to do but it will never go away its a bummer actually, throw out your roses in garden as rose thorns are the worst for infection should have seen me when i came out of the coronary unit my other arm was like a pincushion lol and every test i had to tell them NO !!not that arm good luck to you all with your battles hugs to the kiddies keep positive one day we will beat this monster and all its side affects.

fifie (136 )    10:12 am, 12 Jul

 4754.         oh and

forgot i to wanted it on a medic alert bracelet and was told no don't worry about that.

fifie (136 )    10:15 am, 12 Jul

4755.         Yep I was told I was overreacting with the

whole medic alert idea. Its funny though, at the time I was discussing it here on another thread some medics posted and said "Do it! We like to know these things" but docs wouldn't sign off on one!?!

soniat-d (153 )    11:47 am, 12 Jul

4756.      Bloods successfully retrieved today :o)

Hey Paula, hope things are going well with Joshi's things today.

soniat-d (153 )    1:15 pm, 12 Jul

 4757.      Hey Sonia

just thinking about you... glad it went ok for you today. Yes Joshi's blood test went ok, not going to get any results for this one as only study bloods - go to the scientific researcher in ChCh.

paulaxx (77 )    1:25 pm, 12 Jul

 4758.         What a vile day

it is in Hamilton. At this moment the rain is crashing down, it is hailing, there is thunder and lightning - couldn't be nastier. My youngest daughter and her husband are shifting house!! I am babysitting the three children, at least I am inside all snug and warm.

dize5 (465 )    1:26 pm, 12 Jul

 4759.      Medic Alert

Do you need a dr to sign off - have things changed. I had to get one a long time ago for asthma and an allergy to a drug and dont remember having to get a dr to sign??? Sure I filled the form out myself and sent it off. You wont believe that i cant wear my bracelet as I am allergic to the nickel in it? lOl

paulaxx (77 )    1:27 pm, 12 Jul

 4760.         To Fifie

You are making me have a think about my roses now. They are my favourite flower in the world. I have had several infections from rose thorns (before B.C.) but have been extra careful ever since. I have 8 rose bushes, so maybe I should not be silly about this and let them go. It is very hard not to be stabbed, even when picking roses. Something else for me to ponder over.......

dize5 (465 )    1:29 pm, 12 Jul

4761.      Oh no not getting rid of the roses!! I have......

reduced numbers considerably since we landed here. In Nelson I had 85, in Oamaru I had about 30 and here I planted about 15 and there were already 5, so I am getting down in numbers! But Oh no Life wirh out Roses???? I guess there are worse things in life........LYMPHODEMA???

joystik (283 )    2:15 pm, 12 Jul

 4762.         dize5

i used to pussy foot around the roses being careful they were my fav to love them but decided for me it was to risky but in saying that the dam lymphodemia got me in the end and it wasn't the flowers Lol, so be careful keep that glove on and watch those thorns.

fifie (136 )    2:17 pm, 12 Jul

4763.         I have just emailed an enquirey to Medic Alert

to see what they have to say. I probably wont be able to wear it either Paula, because of the nickel, same reason I cant weear a watch. Maybe they would make lovely Gold ones for us allergy people??

joystik (283 )    2:20 pm, 12 Jul

4764.         Hi Paula, glad the bloods went ok today........

when is Josh allowed back on to the meds again?? We just had a shower a while ago, right when I was going on my bike, but its lovely and sunny here now. Laura and Lauren are singing very loudly in the room....happy, happy, joy, joy........

joystik (283 )    2:22 pm, 12 Jul

4765.         Hi sonia, glad your bloods went ok too...thought

you mite need to borrow my Port!! It is interesting about Medic Alert though, becaue there advertising says something like 'speaking for you when you cant', so it would make sense to have one for something like this wouldn't it? I had so many instances of them going to my Bad arm for Blood pressures, and blood tests etc, and even made doubly sure before I went under anesthetic the other day that they new not to use that arm, and was questioned as to why!! And I had the red arm band on!! Imagine if I didnt have the red band, and hadn't told them either???

joystik (283 )    2:26 pm, 12 Jul

4766.         The courier came before with a big parcel from....

a lady that I used to work with in a supermarket from 1988 - 1991 when I had Lauren. It was the cutest big floppy eared dog called Max! He is just beautiful! People are so kind arent they. I haven't see Sue for probably 4 or 5 years, and we send a few forwards to each other, but dont phone much. Made my day!!

joystik (283 )    2:28 pm, 12 Jul

4767.         Has anyone seen the thread thats started to get

the most messages? But we have already got that here - they will never beat this one will they Sonia?? Thanks so much for starting this. I have so many lovely new friends that I can talk to every day now.

joystik (283 )    2:31 pm, 12 Jul

4768.      I hear you guys on the medicalert thing

I tried, you do need medical signoff. I think thats cos of the attention-seeking hypochondriacs that may falsify conditions etc for whatever wacky reasons they may have. You can get the bracelets in silver or gold - you just pay extra. I also have allergy to antibiotics (not all, but some) so I'm surprised they said no!?! If anyone else manages to get their doc to sign one off, aff him/her if s/he can sign one off for me? LOL ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    2:56 pm, 12 Jul

 4769.         Whoops!

AFF should have read ASK ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    2:58 pm, 12 Jul

 4770.         re 4767

So true Joystik - I've started other threads on this subject in the past and they eventually plummeted off the end LOL. Love this thread - may it never end, and may it become a TM record - hopefully it'll still be going when we all announce that we (and our children) are cancer free ;o) How great would that be?

soniat-d (153 )    3:00 pm, 12 Jul

 4771.      Thats good Paula

So how do they take blood tests from Josh (pardon my ignorance). Does he have one of those things in his arm like Ryan?

soniat-d (153 )    3:03 pm, 12 Jul

 4772.         Hi Sonia

i got the gold plated medic alert bracelet but as it is only gold plated did wear off and then I got a rash. Josh had a PICC Line (Periphally Inserted Central Catheter) but since February he has now got a port-a-cath in. This is a central line (Like Joystiks) put into a big vein in his chest. It is under the skin, so each time Josh needs a blood test I put emla cream on it an hour or so before and then its numb. It is a subcutaneous port. It has an internal chamber under the skin and the tube goes to a large blood vessel, then to the heart. It needs to be flushed every time it is used. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f337/riddle1/Portacath13-2-06.jpg The lump under Joshs ribs is the port. Hope that helps xo

paulaxx (77 )    3:25 pm, 12 Jul

4773.         I hear you Sonia...that would be so good....

Lauren already worries that the same thing will happen to her that has for me. I try to re-assure her but it's not easy. My Dr here would sign anything off I reckon....he's great. If he doesn't know then he just refers you on to someone who does. It really worried me in the hopsital, that even those trained people, were seeminly un-aware of what it meant. I going to get one anyway...its well worth it I think. Only other thing I am alergic to is asprin based medication, which gives me a spotty rash like german measles.

joystik (283 )    3:26 pm, 12 Jul

 4774.         Sonia

The cut in Josh's neck is where the tube is in the vessel, and the cut under his nipple shows a bulge under that - that is the port that they access each time they give him chemo, blood or fluids or need to take blood. So not speaking for Bogeyi but I think she mentioned Ryan getting a hickman which is an external port, thats why he cant go swimming. There my little tutorial is over for today - of course I will be asking questions tomorrow xo

paulaxx (77 )    3:30 pm, 12 Jul

4775.         Mine is like Josh's except located differently....

Mine is in my chest about 2 " above my brest scar line on the right side, with the incision for the catheter up under the collar bone, and that catheter goes ino the superior vena cava alongside the heart. Josh's from memory is round near his rib area, and did it just have the external attacthment for his meds the day I saw him Paula?? Sonia, I have had a needle put in mine when I have been awake yet, so I dont know if it hurts or not, but I would imagine it would be like any other blood test. The lady that usually does mine, is brilliant. She sent me a lovely card in the mail too.....another cancer survivor and friend....

joystik (283 )    3:31 pm, 12 Jul

4776.         Paula they asked if I wanted an external type...

so as to avoid another general aneathetic so soon I think, but I could see that getting in the way and more chance of it getting germs or what ever. Didn't really appeal to me at all. But my type does appeal to a lot of people either. Some people dont like the thought of having a foreign thing implanted under the skin for so long....I thinks its fine

4777.         Can Josh feel his when he lays on that side??

Mine feels like an intrusion still, but its only been there a week so far! I cant lay right up on that side properly and sort of have to lay half on my back. And the other side is where the Lymph nodes came out from so thats still a bit tender to lye on too.

joystik (283 )    3:36 pm, 12 Jul

4778.      We'll be at 5000 by the end of the week........

and theres nothing anything like that big on here. They just fizzle out because theres not any comment to keep them going really. When half the posts are just full stops, it doesn't make for interesting reading really does it. This is something that everyone can relate to....sadly.

joystik (283 )    3:38 pm, 12 Jul

 4779.         Joystik

He said no. Looks like it sticks out though so surprised he cant. Yes the day you saw him he had a needle inserted just for treatment that day. If we had been having treatment a few days in a row they would have left the needle in and he wouldnt have been able to shower or bathe. I have been meaning to ask how your port was? Sorry

4782.         we got ryan a medic alert bracelet

mainly for when he was at school or at a friends so if he was bumped they knew he was a bleeder, dosent wear it at the moment as hes always near me. Last night before we went to the movies we went next door to check out laser strike, Ryan fell in love with it so we have booked for 3 games on Monday with family members, should be cool.

bogeyi (484 )    4:17 pm, 12 Jul

soniat-d (153 )    4:36 pm, 12 Jul

 4788.         Wow Paula

Its all so interesting, but sad they have to have all this of course. I think it makes big sense to something like that in in situations like Josh's - I felt extremely nervous going in for my blood test today, after the last 2 days!?! So can only imagine how a kid would feel about it - it would be impossible to hold them down?! Whta a brave young man - I know I say that all the time, but he is! xoxoxox

soniat-d (153 )    4:40 pm, 12 Jul

4789.         That was my thinking too Joystik

I'm so confident this will just keep on now. If we can raise awareness and save even one person from some of the nightmare errors that we've faced, it'd be soooo worth it. 5000 will be cool :o) Who's gonna grab it?!?! LOL

soniat-d (153 )    4:43 pm, 12 Jul

 4790.         Sonia

You are such a sweety. Its funny we were just saying today when the nurse put the needle into him, how amazing he is. I tell him all the time I dont think he hears me now. Good to hear it from others then he realises that not all children are like him (and Ryan) and just take it all in their stride. Our motto is the sooner its in the sooner we can get out. He never makes a fuss. He is wonderful - so thanks youre a darling!

paulaxx (77 )    4:45 pm, 12 Jul

 4791.      Hi Karen

joystik (283 )    9:07 pm, 12 Jul

 4812.         Hi everyone

Paula, so sorry to hear Josh isn't too good tonight. Hope he is felling better in the morning. Had a busy day here. Took two of Paul's kids to Pirates of The Carribean, then a long walk. My older son and girlfriend have just left after coming out for tea. By the way Paul has 5 kids (ages 12 to 22) and I have 2 boys (21 & 25). We do have fun when we all get together. Hope Sonia is enjoying the scrapbooking. Hiya Bogey, Joystik, Boop. Hope everything is well with you all.

maewest (76 )    9:19 pm, 12 Jul

4813.         Hi Maewest, that sounds like the size of family I.

grew up in. I have 5 broters, 3 older and 2 younger. Lots of kids in the family was fun usually, dont know about for mum though really. She died when my youngest brother was 16 so she missed out on the fun part of it all with the grandchildren. Sounds like you've had a fun day. It raining really hard tonight and I think snow is forecast again, but maybe it will be more for you than us, as usual. Hugs to you ....see you tomorrow..

joystik (283 )    9:32 pm, 12 Jul

4814.         Where are you tonight Boop? Hope you're some

where out of the heavy rain. I believe you have had a couple of wet ones up there. Had some more of your tamarillos tonight for tea and man they are so nice. I'm planning to go to bed early tonight - feeling a bit weary afer my bike riding today, but feel well other wise.....hugs to you too.....

joystik (283 )    9:34 pm, 12 Jul

4815.         Sonia,I hope you are enjoying you scrapbooking...

sounds like a lot of fun to me and you will produce something very beautiful for you little girls. Hope you sleep better tonight too, I think I will after my biking - it was a bit windy coming home so took more effort! Nite nite....sleep tight.....Hugs for you Sonia....

joystik (283 )    9:36 pm, 12 Jul

4816.      Hi all Just got back

Yep had fun - spent heaps ;o) Lovely page in the end, basic but stunning in its basicness LOL Did a page of Lydia as a flowergirl. Did it on a lime green background and embellished with silver lettering and a 3d flower :o) I wanted to cut a pic into a cool shape but none of my pics lended themselves to it. Oh well, I noe know how to do it, for another page ;o)

4819.      Mammograms should be given to younger women

Hi there, I have been following your messages for sometime and just wanted to pop in to say Hi and send you all much love. I went for my first ultrasound when I was 28. I was laughed at.I saved up and went privately. I was on the table with my top off, the technician said to me, the supervisors have agreed to did it but they think you are wasting your money, you are to young." Half way though the scan she said "oh we have 3 women your age in Hamilton who have breast cancer. Why did I get laughed at I ask? I am now 33 and have been for 2 ultrasounds and 1 mammogram. I feel it is important to have a base line to work from and for easier detection. I really think that women should be offered ultrasounds and mammograms like we have cervical smears. Each year I pay for another one of my friends to have a mammogram as a Christmas or Birthday gift, it may sound weird but my friends understand my passion for early detection. XX

nevynn (99 )    10:01 pm, 12 Jul

4820.         Sounds beautiful Sonia. Were there many people

there? Scrapbooking and cardmaking are very popular all over the country aren't they! Good on you for getting out and doing stuff like that. I'm truly off to bed now. Nice to see you again before I went. See you tomorrow.....nite nite....

joystik (283 )    10:02 pm, 12 Jul

4821.      There were 7 of us, and the instructor

It was cool - we sat at tables in the middle of the shop, were shown the basics, how to use the cutting tools etc. Then how to pick the primary pic from your bunch of 4 or 5, then we wandered around the shop with that pic finding a backing sheet of paper that "set off" the photo (that took me a while!) then chose some coloured backing cards, laid them out then I wandered off and chose some lettering and stickers to embellish. May show it off when my camera recharges ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    10:13 pm, 12 Jul

4822.      Good on you Nevynn ;o)

Wish everyone was a sensible as you. I know based on statistics the return does not make it viable for the government to subside early mammograms, but any women who values her life should consider having one. I only wish I'd known what I know now 5 years ago - but of course, thats impossible. Maybe if I'd come across a thread like this...

soniat-d (153 )    10:16 pm, 12 Jul

4823.         Hi all my friends

Joshi get well soon I am so looking forward to you going up to meet sonia, brent, lydia and em. I hope you will tell us all about it when you get back and have some nice photo's to show us. boop2 (106 )    10:27 pm, 12 Jul

 4825.         I have a great family boop2 :o)

Brent looked after the girls and put them to bed. I got a real treat this morning. "Meticulous Maids" came in (first time for me) and spent over 2 hours making this house shine and sparkle :o) I ran around tidying up all the kids stuff in front of them LOL. They're going to come every fortnight for a while, so I can spend my time on more fun things - like scrapbooking :o)

soniat-d (153 )    10:31 pm, 12 Jul

 4827.         Joystik

Do you have to have radiotherapy after you finish your chemo? Here is a piece of useless information for you - did you know that you will never perspire from the radiated armpit again? I must admit that I still use my deodorant on both armpits, from force of habit, and just in case... lol.

dize5 (466 )    10:39 pm, 12 Jul

 4828.         Hi Paula

Have tried for ages to get on joshies site but couldn't get through will try again tomorrow. Look after your self paula doesn't sound like you have had it very easy. hugs

boop2 (106 )    11:59 pm, 12 Jul

4829.         What are you still doin up Boop?

I have ben to bed but up again now!! Once I get to sleep I'm fine....it's just getting there that is the hard part. I blame the pills LOL. It is quite warm here tonight..could be nasty weather ahead I think. Apparent the space shuttle will be visible in a few minutes. Might head outside for a gander with the binoculars. Lovely clear sky.

maewest (76 )    12:07 am, 13 Jul

 4830.         Hmmm, well it was

clear out there before....not now!! I too have heaps of roses in the garden. Last year I was going to rip them all out, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Just wear my protective sleeve and gloves and take extra care.

maewest (76 )    12:20 am, 13 Jul

 4831.         morning all

yucky day in auckland today. Boop not in hospital yet, we are in and out at the moment, 24th July is our day for going in and staying in..

bogeyi (484 )    8:47 am, 13 Jul

 4832.      Good morning roselovers :o)

That's interesting about the non- prespiring thing boop - I have noticed that side doesn't perspire at all and was wondering why. Good to know ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    8:47 am, 13 Jul

4833.         Paula how is josh this morning

4835.      Oh well here's my first attempt at scrapbooking

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/61/24154861_full.jpg As I said, a bit basic in the end, but the pics are so good, didn't really need more...

 4836.         sonia thats lovely

will pick out one i have done later and see if i can put a pic up, scrapbooking is alot of fun, just need to find the time..

bogeyi (484 )    9:11 am, 13 Jul

 4837.         Hi...

and good morning - thanks as always for your concern - you are so important in my/our life!!! Josh and I were still up at 11.30 last night. He seems a little better, no sicky feeling. We are off again this morning for more bloods. Last night when I ph'd the hospital they asked if they'd checked the white count I said no it was study bloods only, they said oh, you'll have to go in again tomorrow and do them! Man I felt like telling them they could! Anyway, hes smiling so we are off to take our nurse a piece of carrot cake I made yesterday. Gorgeous scrapbooking Sonia, looks awesome. Bogey how you doing, love to see one of yours too. Hi Boop, Maewest, Joystik, Karen and anyone else, sorry if I forgot you xo

paulaxx (77 )    9:19 am, 13 Jul

4838.         Sonia, good morning, that is really lovely.....

the colours really help to set it off nicely dont they. Those Maids coming in sound like a great idea to me. Dont think we have that service out here in the country. A very old friend of ours in ChCh had home support workers coming in twice a week last year, because they weren't coping too well with their house work, but they thought the standard of work was terrible, and would go round after her and do it again them selves! I must say though, their standard was VERY high. The house keeper didn't last long....You enjoy your day Sonia...

joystik (283 )    9:21 am, 13 Jul

4839.         Hi nevynn, thanks for posting and for you kind

wishes too. Thats a great thing that you do for a friend. Very sensible precaution also for yourself too. My mum had breast cancer and had a mastectomy at 29, so you are never too young really. I hope your news is always good in respect of this cancer thing. Love and best wishes to you....

joystik (283 )    9:23 am, 13 Jul

 4840.         Hi dize......that made my day....no more........

sweaty armpit on that side. I hated not being able to use deodorant on that side after the op, ad was always in the bathroom goving it another wash just in case!! A lady told me that you should never used deodorant on the side where the lymph nodes have been removed? Is that correct? I thought it was just spray on stuff, cos you cant feel how much you're spraying on. But she said its because of the no filtering thing, and you can get lymphodema. Your thoughts?? Have an enjiyable day wont you...

joystik (283 )    9:27 am, 13 Jul

4841.         Hi Paula and Josh....glad you're feeling better

today young man. That icky sicky feeling is not the best is it?? More bloods? Just as well you've got that port in or you would be like a jolly pin cushion by now wouldnt you. So from these bloods, will they determone when you can resume the treatment again. Isn't Sonia clever with her scrapbooking?? Do you do that too Paula?? I dont. I in the shower shortly and then will wander up to the medical centre and get the dressing off my port wound. Looks like its healed nicely so they will probably not dress it again. Get to see the spunky Dr again too!! He asked if he could have a look when the dressing comes off. I spose Lauren will want to come to! She thinks he's quite HOT!! Have a good day guys....hugs all round....

joystik (283 )    9:32 am, 13 Jul

4842.         Morning Bogeyi and Ryan....hope the day treats you

well too. Its a bit mucky looking here too at the moment. The sun came up beautifully about 8.30 but has disappeared behind the clouds now. I think it is supposed to rain tonight with snow to 400m. We wont get any here though - more east coast I think. So you are another of these arty crafty people bogeyi?? I thought as much when I saw how you had presented the pics on Ryans web site, it looks super. Very clever people you are. Hope all is going to plan with the tests etc, and everyone is fit and well for the big day. Thats the same week I have my next chemo, then I'm halfway through. Have a good day......do something relaxing seeing as its a yuk day. Hugs to you all....

joystik (283 )    9:37 am, 13 Jul

 4843.      Hi Joystik ;o)

We paid $$ for those cleaners but certainly got our moneysworth! I have the govt paid one on Fridays but she's hopeless - she's here for two hours and only manages to clean the bathroom sinks, loos and floor and vacuum the house in that time - thats it!? Rest of time she talks to my girls and to me (though I try to avoid the opportunity for her to do so). She treats it more like a social visit than a job!? Better than nothing though ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:38 am, 13 Jul

 4844.         Re 4840

Snap Joystik! I was the same - and told the same ;o) Yep, after radiation... sweet!

soniat-d (153 )    9:40 am, 13 Jul

 4845.         Good morning everyone

That's interesting about the deodorant thing Joystik. I was never told that! Interesting. Enjoy your visit to the spunky doctor! Sonia your first attent looks pretty professional to me. It's lovely. Well done. I keep looking at all the photos I have stored in boxes and thinking I really must do something about that one day........! Paula & Josh, your frustration continues. You really seem to have been messed around lately. So pleased Josh is feeling a bit better today.

maewest (76 )    9:40 am, 13 Jul

4846.         Hi Maewest, my word you were up late! I had

almost had 2 hours sleep by then. It's been very warm here too at night, only going down to about 7 deg instead of -7deg!. Shame you couldn't see the space ship. We went out last time there was one about and got a brilliant view of it right across the sky from sort of west to east. It was so exciting to see it and know there were people on there. I think there is bad weather on its way, but our forecast for the weekend and monday is the BEST! You have a quiet relaxing day too seeing as it is supposed to be your day off. Take care...love Heather...

joystik (283 )    9:41 am, 13 Jul

 4847.         Hi bogeyi ;o)

Yes would would to see one of yours - you'll probably show me up LOL ;o) Next I'm planning borders and journalling classes, think I can work out the rest myself ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:42 am, 13 Jul

4848.         Hi boop, hope today is a quiet one for you too...

You are always out and about finding stuff to do and people to help, you're great. We always watch to see what sort of wether you're getting up there because of the connection with the place. And of course, while Kevin was iperation an Inshore fishing Trawler out of there, the weather was a very critical part of the operation. Lauren is very much like Gina to look at except for the eys shape. Gina's eyes were round and Laurens are almond shape. But same olive skin, dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. Hope you have a nice day...I really must get off here and into the shower....(and another 30 minutes slips quickly by!!)

joystik (283 )    9:47 am, 13 Jul

4849.         Might as well get this to another 50 beforeI head.

          off and do something constructive???

joystik (283 )    9:48 am, 13 Jul

4850.         Then its not so far to scroll down.........

Take care everyone and enjoy your day.....hope I didnt miss any one??

joystik (283 )    9:49 am, 13 Jul

4851.     It's a beautiful day here

Sun shining, birds singing..and I'm still sitting here in my jamas! Forecast for tomorrow is not so hot though. Hope all is well up your way Bogey. Have you and Ryan got rid of the coughs? Hope so. Hiya Bettyboop. Is it wet over there? It usually is when we have a warm one here. Think I'll make the most of the lovely day. Talk to you all later.

4852.         Hugs to Joshi for today

I'm sorry you need another blood test, its lucky you have the ports - I don't have those and sometimes it really hurts when they try and find my veins. I know it must still hurt a bit going into your port though. (((((hugs))))) Maybe while they're doing it you can think of shooting over the water in our boat - ZOOOOM! ;o) xoxxoxox

 4853.     re: deodorant

One of the radiologists told me that I would never sweat in that armpit again, so I was pleased about that. She also said not to use deodorant while having radiotheraphy, but she didn't say anything about afterwards. Have any of you ladies been told not to ever use it again on the radiotherapy side? Please let me know. It is amazing the bits of information that we all know collectively, but we all have gaps in our individual knowledge.

 4854.     5000

This is the number we are going to reach before the weekend!!! I had my 3 grandchildren yesterday (aged nearly 5 years, 3 years and 5 months) and boy, was I pooped last night. Their parents were shifting house, and the older 2 were in a highly excitable state, waiting to see their furniture in their new house. Poor old nana was feeling her years. Love them to bits though.

dize5 (466 )    10:16 am, 13 Jul

 4855.     Hi Dize

Yes it is interesting about all the gaps we have in the info we have been given. Between us the gaps are sure filling in. What a great thread. Sounds like you had a fun day with your grandchildren. Hope you are having a nice relaxing day today.

maewest (76 )    10:49 am, 13 Jul

 4858.     Sonia

Just finished doing all the housework and lunches so just got to read your message to Josh, he loved it but when I said about your poor hand he said OOOOHHH. Then he giggled about the thought of zooming on your boat. He is playing a fishing game at the moment - he said he needs to practise. LOL.

paulaxx (77 )    12:09 pm, 13 Jul

 4859.     That's cool Paula :o)

He's sounding in better spirits today which is great :o)

soniat-d (153 )    12:18 pm, 13 Jul

4860.     Afternoon all you lovely people on here......

weather still not to flash. Walked up to the medical centre and got the dressing off my port site and the other wee one too. Looks like it was done ages ago, not just last week. Its healed up so well and they were ever so pleased about that too. Walked round to see Kevin, slaving away over a paintbrush still. Then walked back to the shop to get a couple of things, then home, and too the neighbours for a cuppa lemon tea! See, I'm flat stick out here in the country!! The neighbours son is having his 21st on saturday night but we're not going. I'm too scared of getting bad germs in a big huge crowd like that. Shame though, I would love to be going. About 150 people going so it would be a good do, but 'thats life' for now!

joystik (283 )    2:51 pm, 13 Jul

4861.     Hi dize, sounds like a tiring day with the little

grandkids. When I was cregiving for Barnardos, I used to have 4 every day. The first one arrived at 6.45am and the last one went home at 5.45pm. There were always 2 under 2, and 2 over 2 years. The wee boy with 60 hours per week was only 3 months old when he first came, and was just over 4 1/2 when I finished up. I just loved that job, probably the most rewarding job I have ever had in lots of ways. Some times I got pretty tired too, like you.

joystik (283 )    2:55 pm, 13 Jul

4862.     Paula, great to see Josh is getting in some

fishing practice ready for the big fishing trip. And more bloods? Just to Gore for these or into Kew? My next Kew visit is on wednesday 19 for my echocardigraphy appointment. You in there that day?? Hopefully it wont take too long, but the appointment says to allow an hour!! The sunsout now so the day is looking up. Might be short lived though - it is supposed to snow again tonight I believe. Glad you are all feeling better today.

joystik (283 )    3:06 pm, 13 Jul

4863.     Sonia, 5000 is going to be a piece of pie to us

fans of this thread and of the MB. I have never seen one this long ever, have you. They all usually only get to about 700 and fizzle out if they get to that even. Hope your day is going beautifully. Are you scrapbooking by any chance???

joystik (283 )    3:09 pm, 13 Jul

 4864.     Hi Joystik

Just to Gore again today. Dont know if we are going to be there that day. Anythings possible at this stage. Not scheduled to be though. Josh is a lot happier, he is sorting out his collection of hot wheels at the moment. His pride and joy really. Cass is playing with the play dough. They are such great kids. xo

paulaxx (77 )    3:10 pm, 13 Jul

4865.     Just wondering, has any one heard from Twinkies

and Briyanna?? They seem to have been gone from here for ages, and there are'nt any new updates on her web site either. Hope they are ok, and maybe just busy. Hugs to you anyway Twinkies and Briyanna xxxxx

joystik (283 )    3:11 pm, 13 Jul

4866.     Thats great Paula, just happy to amuse themselves

Lauren was always like that too, and yet other people I know with only 1 child have found them a pain in that respect. I can hear her and Laura in the room singing, so thats gotta be good. I'm just off for another walk for potaotes.....shame I have a brain like a goldfish!!Enjoy your day Paula ((((hugs))))

joystik (283 )    3:14 pm, 13 Jul

 4867.     Thanks Joystik

Enjoy your walk. (((((HUGS))))) to you too

paulaxx (77 )    4:06 pm, 13 Jul

 4868.     Bogeyi

Just wondering how you are all doing. Giving you a lot of thought lately xo

paulaxx (77 )    4:07 pm, 13 Jul

 4869.     hi guys

we are good Paula, just got back from Hamilton went to visit my sisters work, they raised $2300 for Ryan towards disneyland so took Ryan down to meet them and say thankyou. Sonia I wont show you up mine are basic compared to what they show you, I went to one party (the neighbour held it at her house)learnt the basics and have tried to make up my own creations...lol

bogeyi (484 )    4:36 pm, 13 Jul

4870.     Hey no worries Bogeyi ;o)

I'm a big girl, I can take it LOL Show us your creations, I'd like some inspiration ;o) Nope not scrapbooking - been out have needles in my hand again :o/ Vit C time again - last blood test shows I'm absorbing it well which is good. Did 100 today, they're expecting to just go up to 120, but depends on test taken again today. We're kid-free tonight - not sure what we're going to do with that?!

soniat-d (153 )    5:13 pm, 13 Jul

4871.     Sounds like a lovely day out Bogeyi. What a....

lovely gesture on behalf of your sisters work to raise that money. When ishe going to Disneyland now?? His trip was postponed wasn't it? Something else for him to look forward too in the future isnt it. Been thinking of you guys lots over the days...you got a lot ahead of you all and I will be thinking of you then too... ((((huGS))))

joystik (283 )    5:14 pm, 13 Jul

 4872.     Oh Joystik

One thread got up to 10000 last year and was voted off. It was like Gisbourne supporters thread or something like that. All a load of mindless chit chat though, different to this one ;o) May we break the record ;o) Will we get a medal? LOL

soniat-d (153 )    5:14 pm, 13 Jul

4873.         Did it??? How did you find that out?? why was it

voted off? Because it was too long?? I see they have mentioned us in that other one thats been started to try and get the longest thread ever!! This thread is very interesting and informative, even if I say so myself. Yes a medal would definately be in order. Would we be on the steps of parliament to see you accept on our behalf?? Or where is a good venue??

joystik (283 )    5:21 pm, 13 Jul

 4874.     I should think 5000 is sooooo....esay before the

weekend, Its only just over 100 away now isnt it....

joystik (283 )    5:22 pm, 13 Jul

4875.         Be careful out there Sonia..........

I know what happened last time I was kid free with too much idle time!!!......

joystik (283 )    5:23 pm, 13 Jul

 4876.     hi Joystik

Disneyland is on hold Koru Care have said he can go when hes ready, to just let them know, you have to be out of treatment for 6 months before you can go..

bogeyi (484 )    5:33 pm, 13 Jul

 4877.         Re 4875 Hee hee Joystik ;o)

Re 4873 I started a thread a few days asking that very question and someone told me - it rang a bell once they said it ;o) I never knew why it was voted off and the person was cagey about saying why just that "some mb'rs were resntful" or something - can't imagine why. If anyone was ever resentful of us, hmmmmmm ?! So a 10000 medal eh?! Maybe it'd make the papers and we'd finally get that 5 secs of fame I always dreamed of LOL

soniat-d (153 )    5:38 pm, 13 Jul

4878.     Thats great then Bogeyi, so it could be sometime

next year then? I might go too. I reckon it would be a kool place to visit at any age. Does just Ryan go or all of you??

joystik (283 )    5:38 pm, 13 Jul

4879.         Wow 6 months out Bogeyi?!

That seems a tad extreme?! Fingers crossed that window comes up soon ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    5:39 pm, 13 Jul

4880.      sonia i think its because of insurance purposes

and plus i wouldnt be happy him going any earlier, Joystik he goes by himself all kids have a companion..

bogeyi (484 )    6:10 pm, 13 Jul

 4881.      Wow again!

I can't imagine that sweet wee man going all that way without you - who's the companion? Why can't it be you? Sorry - silly questions I know, I was just wondering... ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    6:35 pm, 13 Jul

 4882.      Hi...

Just popped in before I go and read to the kidlets. Disneyland - cool we are planning a big trip only 48 months to go now and counting. Love to you all xoxox

paulaxx (77 )    6:46 pm, 13 Jul

4883.      Bogeyi, I could be the minder?? I would be very

good and I promise I would really look after him good....promise!!

joystik (283 )    7:21 pm, 13 Jul

 4884.      Actually,I have another idea!!....................

We couls ALL go and say he needs lots of 'Companions'.....not theres a good idea. How long is the trip for???

joystik (283 )    7:27 pm, 13 Jul

 4885.      For some reason they

don't seem to take the parents on the Disneyland trips. A friend of ours gave her daughter a kidney, and the daughter went on the trip, but the mother wasn't allowed to go too, and she would have liked to go. The girl was 11, but apparently they are extremely well looked after.

dize5 (466 )    7:44 pm, 13 Jul

4886.      Well exactly dize....that why the rest of us could

all go and we could smuggle bogeyi along in our baggage........

joystik (283 )    7:48 pm, 13 Jul

 4887.      Couldn't agree more

joystik. We will all be lined up at the airport (complete with our pressure sleeves!!!!!)

dize5 (466 )    7:52 pm, 13 Jul

4888.      Yes dize and half a tube of deodorant cos we only

need enough for 1 side.....ha ha ha

joystik (283 )    8:42 pm, 13 Jul

4889.       You guys are so cool

Got me laughing! We've been out for dinner (Malaysian) Yummmmmmm :o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:28 pm, 13 Jul

4890.      Brents big 40th is coming up in a few weeks

and I've tried a few times to ask him what celebrations he wants, but he emphasised again tonight that he doesn't want anything singificant because "he doesn't feel like celebrating". What should I do do you reckon? Admittedly last year on his birthday I discovered my first big lump, and my birthday we confirmed the recurrence... it may be to do with the whole "birthday hex" thing we feel we're having, or is he just depressed? Seems fine to talk to now, we's beside me now looking online at what birthday pressies he wants ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    9:31 pm, 13 Jul

4891.   Lucky you sonia...what is Malasian food like?....

is it really tasty like Thai? Or spicy like mexican etc... I'm off to bed not so see you all tomorrow....Sweet dreems.... I shall ponder the birthday thing and see what priceless idea I can come up with. Ha ha ha....

joystik (283 )    9:53 pm, 13 Jul

 4892.      hi joystick

we had another wet day today but managed to get my last bedroom done so that is good. What are Lauren and her friend up too? I do miss my grands very much they are such lovely kids. I am so proud of my eldest son he is such a good father and has done a marvelous job with his four.I knew he would have afew because he never liked getting out of bed.My friend done the most beautiful thing for us she arrived today with a portrait she had painted for us of our youngest son, it was so real. Malc and I were standing there with tears streaming down our face it was just so touching.I will treasure it always. Have a nice day tomorrow. love bet.

 4893.      Hi maewest

Come up and see me sometime" I put a photo on especially for you . How do I look? http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/70/24188270_full.jpg You had the sun shine and we had the rain. Take care ,boop

boop2 (106 )    10:10 pm, 13 Jul

4894.      his companion was a big strapping sercurity

guy from the airport, very well liked i hear. I think the whole thing about kids going by themselves is to let loose, cut ties so to speak, as they are always at your side because of there sickness.I would love to go of course but no go.

bogeyi (484 )    10:12 pm, 13 Jul

 4895.      hi sonia

That sounds good having help your house is quite big too isn't it. Last day of hols tomorrow I hope the girls are okay and Em is being good. Your scrap book is looking great I want to do something like that also, when I get the time. Hugs

 4896.      Hi bogeyi and ryan

Gosh I learn alot from your postings bogey. Will it be hard to let ryan go without you ? Like joystick I will line up to go too cause I can carry her bag to save her arm, yes that's it I am going I want to see Micky Mouse. Have plenty of rest this week bogey ,god bless love boop

boop2 (106 )    10:18 pm, 13 Jul

4897.      Yeah boop its pretty big ;o)

The main problem though is the STUFF the girls generate, I still have to deal to that 24/7 (paper and cardboard creations etc) by the time I have the house TIDY its too late to clean it as well, and the next day the cycle begins again! The gardens are huge as well and in major need of attention :o/!!! For that reason I'm looking forward to school etc returning ;o) Maybe then I'll get time to scrapbook occasionally?!?? LOL

soniat-d (153 )    10:23 pm, 13 Jul

4898.   Believe it or not I was once Marketing Manager for

the Walt Disney Company in NZ ;o) I never got to meet Mickey Mouse there though :o/!!! Yes Bogeyi, I was discussing Ryan's Disneyland situation with Brent tonight, and we know our kids would not want to go without us! Gives us an idea of how things between us will change in the next few years! (Ours being only 5 and 3) ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    10:26 pm, 13 Jul

4899.      Well.... here comes

your other two kiddies will get some quality time with you won't they bogeyi?

soniat-d (153 )    10:38 pm, 13 Jul

4904.         yep they had there treat

when Ryan was meant to be going to Disneyland my Mum and Dad booked to take the other two to gold coast, they still went as it wasnt worth cancelling, so poor Ryan stayed back...

bogeyi (484 )    10:42 pm, 13 Jul

4906.         Bogeyi, What an an awesome trip for Ryan!!

when hes well enough to go it will be the making of him. In hindsite its so easy to see how important a trip like that is in helping mother and son let go a bit. Otherwise it takes years and they miss out on so much. I hope it won't be long before he can enjoy his trip.Hes a lovely looking boy Bogeyi.

janetmk1 (38 )    7:30 am, 14 Jul

 4914.         Hi Karen

Where in Wellington are you moving? We lived in the Hutt for 4 years and loved it! We also lived in Taupo for 4 years, my hubby worked in Rotorua 3 days a week, so we are quite familiar with that part of the country also. Enjoy your day without the kids! I hope gran is okay and that you are getting back to normality. Was it your grandmother or your kid's?

meridian1 (294 )    1:30 pm, 14 Jul

 4915.         Maewest

I've never put a photo on here but maybe I can help. When you copy/pasted your photo did you copy the picture from the address bar, or just the title under the pic in your gallery? I suspect the latter, and if so, try clicking on your photo, then copy/pasting the address bar. I hope that works cos I really wanna see your pic ;-)

Paula Ryan really wanted to go to camp in January but he was only just out of transplant so couldnt, and the one this weekend he can either to close to transplant. He really wants to go and understands that when the time is right he can go....his answer is thats ok cause i can go until im 16.

4930.         In answer to you Maewest

I really shouldn't say ... cos for the past three or 4 days I have read how all the regulars here have been down with snuffles colds etc... and then whaddaya know ... I have been nursing the same complaint ... think I have it on the improve now .. thank goodness the weather has held up in spite of the grim predictions ... It has been quite ok to do the farm chores for the past few days So .. thanks for asking I am really doing quite fine ... Hope all is well for you

farmerlloyd (23 )    5:03 pm, 14 Jul

4931.         Sorry to hear that Farmerlloyd

There are some nasty bugs around at the mo. My man was flat on his back for 3 days last week with a bug, but so far I have managed to avoid it...Vit C, Vit C, and more Vit C! Been cold up here today too, tho the sun came out for a while. You take care.

maewest (76 )    5:07 pm, 14 Jul

 4932.         Thanks Meredian

but it was all thanks to you. What you said is exactly what I was doing wrong. It's easy when you know how!

maewest (76 )    5:08 pm, 14 Jul

 4933.         maewest ...

happy to help - and what a cheeky pic ;-)

meridian1 (294 )    5:11 pm, 14 Jul

 4934.         I hear you...

and I am sure it is helpful ...so do you think my orange eating binge will do the trick .. or should I upgrade to pills ... Oh I should really ask my wife .. but have been home alone for the past three or four days (wife and the children away for a few days).. Just 24 hours to go before we are a family again ...

farmerlloyd (23 )    5:14 pm, 14 Jul

4935.         Roll on 24 hours huh

farmerlloyd. Hope you are feeling better soon!

meridian1 (294 )    5:19 pm, 14 Jul

 4936.         Hey Sonia ....

are ya ready for the 5000? Would be really cool if YOU could make the number 5000 post!

meridian1 (294 )    5:21 pm, 14 Jul

 4937.         Meridian

Thanks for your kind wishes and hope that the foul weather that seems to be haunting parts of the North Is. will leave you all very soon. Apart from the quite cool temps we are having, there is nothing else to complain about (on the weather front at least ) It seems to me that flooding and snow is knocking around most of the rest of NZ . Terrible

farmerlloyd (23 )    5:27 pm, 14 Jul

 4938.      Yeah I know Meridian

That would be cool :o) But I'd like any regular on here to get it - how exciting! Is it wrong to be excited about this?! LOL

soniat-d (153 )    5:39 pm, 14 Jul

 4939.         Nah ... course not

I'm excited ... bet heaps of others are too!

meridian1 (294 )    5:45 pm, 14 Jul

 4940.         Oh no Sonia

It is yours. We will protect it for you. Farmerlloyd, kiwifruit and Ester C tablets. (Oh, and hot lemon juice, honey and whisky!) Once I talked the fella into taking them all he improved overnight!!! You poor old thing, you have had to suffer all on your own! You will be looking for ward to seeing your family.

maewest (76 )    5:46 pm, 14 Jul

4941.         Hi All been out at the playground with Emily

(Lydias down at nannas again) Have to say the park was not a fun experience - about 40 loud teenagers over all the kids play equipment, had to ask them to vacate the toddler swing so Emily could have a turn etc. One was defacing the playgym so I told her off ;o). I felt like a real wet blanket, but I hate public property being vandalised, particularly kids playgrounds. Why do teenagers feel compelled to do this? Anyway, glad to be home! Brent's off to the Rugby tonight and we're off now to Nanna's for chinese takeaways, then I return to put Em to bed. Have a nice evening all ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    5:47 pm, 14 Jul

4942.         You have a nice evening too

Sonia. Isn't it a pain when you feel intimidated. Oh well, school is back next week. Hey can you keep an eye on the thread. I would hate it to roll over while you are out.

maewest (76 )    5:48 pm, 14 Jul

 4943.         Sonia for the 5000!!!

I agree with you meridian, Sonia the 5000 should be yours :)))

janetmk1 (38 )    5:50 pm, 14 Jul

 4944.         Sonia

You deserve that honour and for sure I am picking that everyone will help you walk right up to that 4999 one and then say a little prayer that you catch 5000... and I have meant to tell you that the news from my wife is that Vit C infusions ( and nutritional supplements ) are advocated by the doc at the med centre here for a wide range of ills suffered by the gen population, with very good results apparently

farmerlloyd (23 )    5:50 pm, 14 Jul

 4966.      Meridian

Whe we were trying to have a baby mum bought me an Angel decoder, its was very cute. I had always liked the name Cassielle and it was on that. The movie the City of Angels there is an angel on that called Cassiel (So I went with the more feminine sounding name) thanks glad you like it xo

paulaxx (77 )    8:23 pm, 14 Jul

 4967.      I pop in here

every so often and think of you all. There was a lovely picture the other day of Lauren (I think) in her black and pink ball gown - does anyone have the link for it again as my best friend is getting one made for her daughter and it sounds identical apart from hers blue and pink.

volksie (249 )    8:24 pm, 14 Jul

 4969.      Meridian

Im not trying to make mre posts honest... Josh is not that good, but not that bad either, its hard to describe. Yesterday and today he has had codeine for pain, his temp is on the warmer than average side, cough still lurking, but he is ok, very tired though and quite emotional. But reading something last night about head injuries and that is one of the side effects of having had a stroke. Poor lamb, but dont get me wrong he still is happy enough. :o) Well happy considering xo thanks hope you had a good day

paulaxx (77 )    8:27 pm, 14 Jul

 4970.   Awww Paula :o(

soniat-d (153 )    8:43 pm, 14 Jul

 4972.      Paula
